I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service I have recently experienced at your establishment. My previous visit was marred by the unpleasant demeanor and rude attitude of a female staff member. Despite this, my fondness for Korean cuisine led me to hope that this was an isolated incident, and I decided to give your restaurant another chance today.
Regrettably, today’s experience only compounded my dissatisfaction. Upon arrival, we were seated by the window. However, as someone with a severe sensitivity to sunlight, the bright light made me feel dizzy and unable to read the menu clearly. I requested to be moved to an interior table.
A male waiter informed us that the only available tables were four-person tables, which they do not split to accommodate fewer diners. I suggested that he separate the table into two two-person tables. He said he would check with his superior, and the same female staff member from my previous visit returned. She told us we could sit there but would have to move back to the window if another party arrived, as their four-person tables are reserved strictly for groups of four.
I expressed that since we arrived first, we should be allowed to finish our meal before they rearrange the table for a larger group. She reiterated that their policy prohibits seating two people at a table that can be divided for four, showing a rigid adherence to policy without consideration for the customer’s comfort or flexibility in service.
This lack of adaptability and disregard for customer needs left me extremely frustrated and upset. Such inflexible and unaccommodating service is entirely unacceptable and has significantly marred my dining experience at Silla Korean Restaurant.
I hope that you will address these service issues and take steps to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and consideration the...
Read moreI went here for my first taste of Korean food with my fiancée and my sister. Shilla's pretty small and really popular so my sister (who eats here often) recommended making a reservation.
We had the bul go ki (chargrilled marinated beef), bokum udon (big, fat, pan fried udon noodles with chicken), dak go chi (chicken skewers, chilli and onion with an amazing sticky soy sauce), and gun man do (little tasty pork dumplings).
The food was amazing!
The beef in the bul go ki was so tender. It comes with a little bowl of lettuce leaves and a bowl of rice. The idea is to make lettuce wraps filled with rice and beef. The spicy dip was great (if a little sweet).
We all shared so that my fiancée and I (the first timers) could get a taste of everything.
The bokum udon noodles were superb. We had then with chicken (a LOT of chicken!). They had a tasty sauce and some nice garnish.
The two starters (dak go chi - chicken skewers, and gun man do - pork dumplings) were so good I'd visit for these on their own! The sticky sauce on the skewers - wow. Really nice.
We also got four little bowls of banchan when we arrived. These wee bowls come free and keep you going until you get your starters. I honestly wasn't sure what was in each but they were tasty and a nice touch.
The beer and wine selection was really good. I had my first Korean beer (a Hite - light and crisp, an easy drink). My fiancée had a Sapporo (a widely available and tasty Japanese beer). They also had Asahi, Chang (I think) and Tsing Tao.
Pricing was pretty reasonable too - £60 for three of us, with starters, mains and drinks.
I'd definitely go back here. The staff were nice and the food was dynamite. I'm really glad to have had my first taste of Korean food at such a...
Read moreHave been to this restaurant a couple times in the past few years as part of a pre-concert ritual before heading to the Hydro and have always enjoyed their food and their amazing service.
But today I was craving their Jjangmyeon and had ordered some food for pickup on my way home. When we arrived at the restaurant we were informed that they had a problem with their online ordering system and they weren't sent the order beforehand. They had to make the food at that moment, which resulted in a longer wait.
I never got the name of the server but he was lovely and profusely apologised, ensuring that the kitchen will put our order as priority and make it quickly, which they did. He let us take a seat and served us water while we waited, he offered us other drinks or anything to eat while we waited but we declined as we were just happy waiting there and could see that this was a simple mistake. In the end he gave two cans of diet coke, that weren't part of our original order, for free!
I will be so happy to come and eat there again, I was reminded of how well they look after...
