St. Andrews Shawarma House — Restaurant in Scotland

Great little find of a place. Went here for lunch with my husband, 6 yo and 13 yo. More like a hatch take away / street food with outdoor seating if you want to sit down. Staff were super friendly and obviously proud of their place and what they do. Food was soooo tasty. I had the chicken shawarma wrap and some chips. The wrap was tasty, fresh and just really darn good! Chips were hot and fresh and really crispy - they're often an after thought, I find, but not here. My husband had the mixed shawarma wrap, and he loved it - said it's his new favourite place to come in St Andrews. My 6 yo had the lamb shawarma and rice with salad in a box and loved it - so tasty - the owner (I think it was) even brought over some extra chilli sauce and garlic dipping sauce over for us and she enjoyed dipping her lamb in it. My 13 yo had the mixed chicken/lamb with rice and also loved it - his new favourite and wants to go back today for dinner! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 He was so full afterwards.

Shawarma (“döner” to Epicureans among you) should be made from thinly cut and marinated meat slices. What you will buy widely in the UK is a rubbish form, made of factory “pulped” mince meat (with potentially questionable ingredients!). Also it is distributed frozen most of the time. NOT WITH ST ANDREWS SHAWARMA!!! This family run business stacks its own rolls by hand, fresh! Hence the succulent taste and quality. If you like your meat, may I suggest asking for the meat and salad / toppings separately! By far the best shawarma I have tasted over the last couple of years. If you don’t consume meat, they do falafels as well so you have no excuse to skip this honest and friendly establishment. Reasonably priced and very clean. The The gentleman in sharma house are always so kind to me I have a particularly hard order one that is not on the menu and they are always so accommodating to me to make it. I even received this lovely treatment during one of the busiest times in our little town the open of 22 where the queue was very full and I wasn't expecting it. They truly know how to treat and KEEP customers right.

I just ordered again today and even though the chef hasn't made it before, they called me over with the same sweet decorum and made my snack especially for me. Thankyou guys very much, especially Sunac.

Wonderful food on the whole menu, my boyfriend is a chef and very picky and will only eat from here in town!!
