That Bar Lounge — Restaurant in Scotland

It's been many a year since I have been in That Bar! Other than the 3 folks with me there were only 2 other citizens in the billiards area which was bizarrely closed for a private function. Maybe it was a qualifying match for the Mosconi Cup or something? 🤷 The young fella working the bar did a braw job pouring drinks and polishing the bar. He even vanished like a prime Paul Daniels at one stage! The giant shower curtains separating the front from the rear was a strange choice of decor. However, we had a sneaky peek behind the curtains and what lay beyond was something of a surprise. A line of chairs layed out in a sort of squiggly line like they'd crossed the Conga with Musical Chairs. In an attempt to get to the cludgie, I opted to crawl under the chair snake while my friend opted to go up and over. Both ways had similar outcomes although my breeks got a bit dirty. Came with friends - hadn’t booked in advance but it wasn’t busy and we were seated quickly. As someone who eats out and goes for drinks all the time at quality restaurants and bars, our group were all disappointed for a number of reasons. It was an odd vibe, the welcome and manners were way off, all of the chairs were absolutely filthy (pics posted), there are no drinks menus at all (we asked and there are no physical or virtual menus - crazy nowadays), and it was £18 for 3 simple gins. We left and went elsewhere after our drinks. We don’t grudge spending loads on food and drinks at all (quite the opposite!) and we could have spent all night there ordering round after round but it was a filthy environment to sit in and poor value for the quality and the surroundings. Clean the place up, get virtual menus, and be warmer with customers....

That bar is nice, a little small but is a very lovely bar for a few drinks. Quite a few damn good cocktails avaliable. Disadvantage - in this area it's got one of the new nightclubs (The Loft) above it and accessible from That Bar so at 10 or so it packs every weekend for the young of the area looking for somewhere to dance and start the night. If your looking for a quiet bar to talk to friends, either come at lunchtime or there are many other nice bars around. If you're looking for a night out with music and dancing, 10pm on a Friday is the perfect time there to start...
