Shocking

I came here as I thought the deli looked nice and the area at the back was cosy. To be fair, the food was tasty albeit slightly expensive but that wasn’t the issue.

I am not sure if it was because I was quite obviously a tourist but I was very shocked by the service. The staff were more interested in talking to each other than serving customers but that was the least of it. My pot of tea arrived with drips of water from the machine. No attempt to wipe it off before bringing it to the table. As I was drinking my tea, cup in front of me my bagel arrived and was just plonked the other side of the table, with no concern about where I might want it or indeed any attempt to interact with me. Having eaten, I asked to pay and was told to come to the till. Fair enough. I asked if I could pay by card, I heard a yes and then the woman disappeared saying something that I didn’t hear. She appeared with the card machine by which time there were people waiting to pay at the till. Rather than taking a couple of steps towards me she stood where she was waving the machine, summoning me to pay. Unfortunately, I forgot my PIN so had to endure more rudeness and impatience.

Not sure what is going on with this place. Management? Staff training? Demoralisation?

There seemed to be other great places for lunch so wish I had made a...

Absolutely vile rolls. I just popped in for a roll half an hr ago - I asked for a link sausage and scrambled egg roll. First time in my lifetime it's come in a seperate roll for each rather on the same roll?! I'd already paid for it, not realising, so just left, confused. Put the rolls in my backpack to walk couple mins down the road. When I pulled the scrambled egg roll out of my bag, liquid poured EVERYWHERE. I mean on the table, all over the floor and in my bag. I have no idea if it was cooking oil or butter but the bottom of the roll was soggy, drenched and falling apart. Its as if some numpty has poured the entire contents in the pan all over the roll, butter and all. I had to chuck it in the bin, didn't even take a bite. Absolutely minging. On to the sausage roll, took a few bites, seemed OK (and funnily enough not greasy at all). Got to the middle and it was raw and dark pink. So had to chuck that as well. Hope I don't end up ill.

Really disgusting and would never go back. To charge for that is ridiculous - how can you get a roll that wrong. I've never left a 1* review for food before. The gent serving at the deli was super friendly and welcoming though....

Deli looks lovely. But I had breakfast at the back in the cafe. General decor and furniture was tired looking, but love the old fashion oven at the back. No spark from the staff, just another day in a long road of days, but the were pleasant enough. Food was same old, cooked the same every day, but the ingredients were yummy. Loose tea may be fashionable, but the tea was a tad weak. Basically the cafe needs to up its game. Lick of paint on the walls and furniture. Sort out the messy looking entrance. Refresh how the cakes are presented. Staff to be be engaging every customer, need their love of the place back, cook needs to see each plate of food going out as it's going to a critic. Taste has the potential of being great, just seems a bit under the weather and lost it's way. There's lots of competition out there on the High Street, please don't take this as a moan, but a well deserved kick in the ass to up your game, and importantly, to look as though the cafe and staff love it. Doesn't need a lot of money, just a bit of...

All round 4 star, although the service was quite quick, the area was noisy due to the low ceiling at the back and the coffee machine. Food wasn't too bad, although it was a bit pricey for some of it. The general atmosphere is quite nice and the interesting deli at the front looked to have some lovely range of products. The home baking also looked very tasty with a good range. Meals were a little salty and maybe a bit too much fat on the bacon for my taste, and hollandaise sauce was quite mustardy. Not my first choice but ,I would give it another try. Dogs are welcome however, which is a plus when your 4 footed friend can enjoy a sit-down meal as well.

What a wee gem of a place, you walk into what looks like a small Deli counter, but the cafe seating extends through the back into what feels like a little courtyard, it's charming. The food was excellent, and lovely to be able to have a glass of wine with a Charcuterie Board. Really fresh salad leaves, overall very enjoyable. Staff were lovely, if a little young. I didn't really appreciate them doing the "closing up" clean around about us, an hour and a half before they were due to close. But a minor issue and didn't spoil a very pleasant visit. I'll definitely return.

We visited Linlithgow on a day trip, and decided to have our brunch at Taste Deli. It’s just a short walk from the railway station. We ordered the eggs royale, eggs Benedict, sausage roll, and trio of bread. The food was delicious! Everyone was very friendly, welcoming us to Scotland. The cafe was also bright and cheery, all which added on to the pleasant experience here. We enjoyed our meal here, and would highly recommend it to others.
