Sadly disappointing is the kindest way to describe my visit. Found that the food did not live up to my exspectations having read the menu. Average pannini, coleslaw tasted and looked supermarket brand, could not find or taste any dressing on the small amount of salad served. Sorry but not for me, I do not live within the area, but can assure you I can get a higher quality of food locally for same cost or slightly cheaper.
Dear owner in response too your question regarding feedback to staff at the time of our visit, we did leave rather hurriedly on the day and paid at the counter directly. I was not asked how our meal went, but consider this only a minor issue truthfully. Unfortunately I do not see a time anywhere in the near future when we would be back in Linlithgow so will not be able to accept your kind offer of a free meal, but my thanks for the offer. Sadly can I also say with no intention of causing you upset, even if we were to be in the area unexpectively again I would not call at the Crannog...
Read moreLovely little cafe in Linlinthgow. Dropped in for as snack as my partner was tired after walking around. The Tomato and basil soup was amazing as was the toastie I ordered. My partner has a limited diet due to her condition. So just had a toasted teacake with some jam. She can usually only have a few bites of something then has to stop , she ate it all. I also had a lovely fruit scone with butter and jam. We will definitely be back when In The area. Also check out the stunning canvases on the walls of the Kenmore Crannog while your there. I think they are for sale. (Any idea who the photographer is?) It's very important to support small local businesses folks. Especially since this great wee place has a...
Read moreBack at The Crannog this morning for more of the best scones in Linlithgow. Shonagh the co-owner was keen to tailor her cappuccino making to my particular preference and she made one with two shots of coffee and less milk than normal. This cappucci certainly did not lack any va va voom and strangely for me it was a bit too strong and didn't have quite enough milk! Hopefully we'll hit the spot next time as the produce from the kitchen is superb and The Crannog is an extremely friendly and relaxing cafe. Even our timid wee dog started to make friends with the lovely but timid house dog Bella! Excellent scones baked fresh every day. Cappuccis ok but lacked a bit of va va voom. Very good service for both...
