We ate here the other night and we enjoyed our meal. We were 1 hour early for our booked table but they were kind enough to give us a table. We asked to sit outside. The table was very small for the 4 of us and the chairs weren’t that comfortable. The staff were very friendly. However, they could be a little better with their service. Once we got our table my wife and dad went to the toilet and we were immediately asked if we were ready to order drinks. I thought it was a bit premature of them asking as the whole party wasn’t there. We got water and bread for the table and asked the waiter to come back in a few minutes. Before our mains, staff walked past our table a number of times and didn’t collect our bread board which we had clearly finished. When our mains arrived the waiter realised that one little table wouldn’t fit all our meals so he awkwardly pulled another over with his hands full. The bread board was still there so the waitress had to do a swap with me. I feel that this awkwardness could have been avoided if the staff were a little more on the ball with the tables and clearing the used board before serving the mains. The food itself was really good. I got the fillet steak which lovely. However, I asked for medium rare but it was definitely more on the medium side. I also thought it was very small considering how expensive it is. I got truffle and parmesan fries with it which were ok. They were bog standard fries with Parmesan sprinkled on top. I couldn’t taste the truffle. My wife got fish and chips. She said the fish was delicious and the chips were fine. My mum got the prawn linguine which she really enjoyed and couldn’t fault. My can’t remember the name of the vegetarian dish my dad got but he said it was nice. For dessert I got the chef’s physician which was incredibly tasty (just wish there was more of it), my mum got a meringue dessert which was also lovely and my wife got sticky toffee pudding which was scrumptious. Overall, we had a good meal. Staff are very friendly but service could be improved. I also believe that it was a bit expensive.

I was recommended to visit here from a friend and I was not disappointed. We booked a table for two for a early lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We where greeted at the door by two friendly waitresses who then gave us a choice of tables and took our coats as we caught in the rain just before lunch. We were offered a choice of the main menu or a set two course lunch menu. We opted for the main menu both menus looked great and seemed good value. I must comment that the waitress was genuinely warm friendly and attentive. An example of this was a quick question regarding portion sizes. We shared a starter of chorizo and king prawn on a skewer with a delicious houmous type dip to go with it and some slices of sourdough bread and oil. It was served very quickly and was delicious. Main course I couldn't resist the burger with real arran mature cheese and a proper sesame seeded bun. Monk fish served on a bed of chick peas in a tomato sauce with coriander and chorizo was another lovely dish. A pint of West draught lager and the house sauvignon blonc helped wash it all down. There is an open kitchen which is visible from practically every angle in the restaurant the chef takes his food very seriously which is apparent when he engages the waiting staff. Good to see the man's passion for the food however mabey a buzzer in the pocket of the waiting staff rather than him barking service at the poor buggers repeatedly. There is a cocktail bar in a separate room at the rear of the seating area but we didn't have time to sample the menu. £70 with a tip was well worth it. Great food and great service.
