The Nest by the Giddy Goose — Restaurant in Scotland

Having walked passed Giddy Goose for the better part of a year, always saying to myself I cant wait to try it, I finally managed today. Decided to take 3 kids with me, and without booking was given a table straight away, for a Friday night I thought this was great. I had ordered the Dirty Fries(Brisket) I have been eyeing this up for quite a while, so why not treat myself. Food came hot and to be honest tasted really good, Gravy wasn't too thick, brisket was a tad chewy but not bad

My oldest ordered Salsa Paprika Chicken Nachos, this is where the problem was. She received the food and noticed that some bits of chicken were warm, but most of it was (Luke Warm), I had to try it myself just to see if she was playing up, but no she was correct. I had to bring this up with the Waitress, all she said was the kitchen was busy today. No offer to reheat it, or find out why it was cold. My middle child ordered the triple cheese nachos, This came out fine, Cheese was melted thoroughly and the Guacamole tasted lovely. But she did mention the Cheese was bland, I never tried this so I cannot comment.

My youngest ordered the Giddy Hot Dog, he is a fussy little eater so only ate a little bit of hot dog, he had mentioned it tasted weird but I did explain to him about bratwurst. He did love the chips tho. All in all, the food was 7/10 I'd say, Having walked past this place for the better part of a year and built myself up to eat here, I found it a little disappointing.

BUT overall an 8/10 as we were seated quickly and the staff were very polite, atmosphere was nice inside and not too noisy When finalising the bill, there was no offer for a discount on my eldest's meal, it was just pay and leave.

Would I eat here again? Maybe, I'd probably just stick to something like a pizza instead.

Would I recommend it to Friends and Family, well not the Salsa Paprika...

The service is the worst I have ever experienced which is a shame as the food was good. Waiting staff were nice but management are horrible and verbally aggressive towards customers raising concerns. Not enough staff to cater for the amount of customers there. Staff looked rushed and stressed. Excessive waiting times to receive food and between courses. No cutlery given, 5+ minutes sat with food waiting on cutlery. My colleagues had to eat their dessert from plastic spoons that we found on a shelf in the restaurant as nobody returned to give us spoons. Restaurant was freezing cold and uncomfortable to eat in. Staff were loudly moving furniture around us as we tried to eat. 3 attempts to get the bill sorted out as this was incorrectly calculated which took approximately 50 minutes from first asking for the bill to when we left the restaurant. We had to leave and return following morning to pay as no staff available to give us finalised bill or take payment (even after the 50 minute wait). Manager was threatening, accusatory and verbally aggressive when we were trying to explain the poor experience and why we left. He was unwilling to listen and argumentative. He accused us of stealing even though we booked under company name and left contact details and would not accept that the experience and poor service had caused the entire situation.

It was absolutely terrible and I would discourage anyone...

Came for a family meal. Ordered chicken from the starters for the kids as they didn't like anything on the kids menu since the waitress serving us confirmed that would be suitable for them and could be mande without spices. When it arrived at the table it was clearly burnt. However the waitress insisted that was how it was served. After trying I asked for it to be sent back because not only did it look burnt but it also tasted burnt. There were mistakes made on our order where add ons were charged but did not come to the table and misleading grammar on menu description. As our time was up we requested desserts to go. Living 2 min away I explained we wanted them to have straight away as soon as we arrived home. As I gotnhome I realized I only had half of the described desserts so I went back to the restaurant asking for the rest of what I had paid for. Waited 10 min before getting desserts and I decided I wanted to check them before I left. I had 3 boxes. 1 still incomplete dessert and the other 2 boxes were empty.
