Popped into Chaper and Verse on the way home from a day out with the family. We were shown to our table and with our bums hardly in our seats we were asked for our drinks orders which is cool to be quick but would be nice to actually be sat down and have a chance to take our jersey off. The food took a little while to come out considering there were only two other tables being used in the place. Anyway we had a nice meal however my oldest complained to me her glass was dirty and covered in finger prints and her desert plate was dirty around the edge. She also went to the toilet and came back complaining of its lack of cleanliness. Now to the real issue of the day. My youngest daughter was munching through her ice cream and stopped and said "Dad, what's that?" and she pointed at a small dark coloured thing in her bowl half covered in ice cream. I fished it out and it was either a shard of glass or hard plastic and had a point at either end that would've punctured the skin. I told the waitress who disappeared with it through to the kitchen returning a few minutes later to inform us a new bowl of ice cream was on its way. I let her know right away that we didn't want a replacement and we were done. My oldest was the only other one having pudding and she pushed away her half eaten cheesecake after the discovery of the foreign object in her sisters ice cream. I went to pay the somewhat hefty bill (£78 for three mains, one pudding a kids deal and a round of soft drinks) and I asked where the shard had come from. She said the kitchen told her it was from the ice-cream scoop. (using brittle plastic scoops in a professional kitchen?) I said to her I really wasn't happy at the situation and got no response so I paid and came to Google review to vent. I don't usually throw this out there but my youngest who had the shard in her food has cerabral paulsy which affects one side of her body and means she is registered blind as she can't see anything to the right of her nose. So it would've been entirely possible for her not to have seen the shard and due to reduced sensation all on her right side to have not felt it in her mouth and then where would we be. Well I don't think anybody in Chapter and Verse would know as they didn't appear to care they had sent something so deadly to my daughter. I'm still fizzing about their lack of anything more than the shard finding it's way into her food. Guess what, I'll no be back.

Have not been here for years but we've heard about the excellent menu including Indian Cuisine that's on offer. We chanced it and didn't book. Quick and simple staff were attentive, Cokes all round and ordered Food. Mac and cheese Battered Jumbo Chicken Goujons Cajun Chicken Fajita (Baguette) All dishes came with the ubiquitous chips but the goujons and mac also came with peas and carrots. Hot! Totally tasty and satisfying, I can't describe it beyond this statement. EXCELLENT! Definitely will be visiting again, looking to have a curry dish👍🏼

Last minute visit after a swim and really glad we chose here. Menu is extensive which we were concerned about to be honest as seemed too large to be fresh....but curry's section was most prominent so we went for this and really enjoyed it! Little boy got a pizza and chips option from their kids menu which was freshly made and tasted great too. Saw someone having fish which also looked great. We will definitely be back.

Went in for my 59th birthday. My daughter ordered a main of Chicken Tikka Masala, with a garlic nan. She absolutely loved it. She's had it before. Only comment on that is that the nan was so thin it was actually crunchy, and so thin you could almost see through it. That is the God's honest truth. I on the other hand ordered Lasagne, and till hungry. couldn't wait I haven't had Lasagne out in a long time. Biggest let down ever. I was so, so disappointed. The portion was absolutely tiny. A small shallow dish, not much more than an inch or so deep. No layers at all. In all my years of eating out, that is the smallest portion I have ever had by a country mile if I got a dozen or so chips, a spoonful of carrots. It was supposed to have salad, there was a pinch, honestly it was ridiculous. I had starved myself all day and I was still hungry. I'm not a huge eater. We both had a sweet. My daughter ordered Sticky Toffee pudding I think which looked lovely Small portion of course. I ordered what I thought was the most filling thing on the menu. Apple Pie and Custard. It was in a very small plate, and as usual not enough custard Couldn't wait to get stuck in. I was still hungry. OMG it was so hot it burnt my mouth really, really badly, The pastry was soggy, and obviously microwaved. No I didn't complain at the time for a reason that happened when we were there. Don't want to say but, it wasn't a bad thing. I'd give you 21/2 stars for my daughters meal, even for the nan that was so thin you could almost see through it. It was so thin it was crunchy like a pompidou. Mines was a huge let down. They have obviously cut back on portion sizes and kept the prices the same. I hope I came in on a bad night, as I would like to try somewhere else.. maybe a delivery carry out.I would like to hear from the owners. I don't want to hear what other people think, I just want to hear about my experience. Believe it or not haha . I'm not a complainer . I've never done anything like this before. I have given my comments openly...

ABSOLUTELY APPALLED!!! VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. Booked into Chapter and Verse 1.30. 22nd September 23. Under name of Mrs Malcolm. Explained mobility scooters. Arrived there today for special 80th birthday meal. Was told should have phoned and explained re scooters !! I did ! Waitress taking drinks order did not know any of beers available. Had to keep of checking. Other waitress came to take orders. (4 adults) She was quite abrupt. Firstly when showing us to our seats, just pointed a said sit there! When taking our order she was abrupt and not giving us the opportunity to ask her questions. My husband, said in a very nice manner, can you please stop being so abrupt when speaking to us, allow us to discuss our choices with you, as we are the customers and you are here to take our orders. She went away, and when she returned asked us to leave. My husband asked to speak to the manager, and the waitress said she was the manager. We left our drinks and left the restaurant. We are 4 people age ranging 66 upwards. We were appalled by our treatment. This was a special organised 80th birthday meal. We would have spent over £150 with the wine, drinks and meals. Totally disgusted. Been there on many occasions but will never return. And we will pass our experiences to other friends who when staying at Forfar caravan site, of our bad experience with this restaurant. VERY...
