This is one of Forfar's secret gems ... The staff are friendly, the food is consistently of the highest quality ... Everyone you speak to attests to the first class amenity that the Castle Club most certainly is ... We use this place frequently ... though not as often as we might like. If you are able to walk up fairly steep stairs for your sustenance, this is the diner for you.
We had the privilege to be back after a long time in the dining area of The Castle Club in Forfar last night.. It was as if the lockdown had never happened despite the usual post Covid arrangements. Every single thing was up to scratch and Bristol fashion and the food itself, as always was, proved that a recovery from a short era of being out of the game need not mean a decline in standards. The place has had a gentle lift, decor-wise, and the only thing that ever put people off coming here is the steep climb up those entry stairs. How about a stair lift? Full marks though for the return...
Read moreMy wife and I were recommended to visit the Castle Club tonight for Dinner and we were so glad that we took up the advise. My wife had Haddock & Chips no soggy batter here! It was really tasty. I chose for myself the mixed grille and I certainly wasn't disappointed. 2 X 6oz steaks, pork fillet, 2 sausages, black pudding, beans and a friend egg what a plateful and not for the faint hearted. Everything was cooked to perfection and really tasty. We managed to squeeze in a couple of sweets sticky toffee and banana fritters all exceptional value for money and tasted as they should..... The 2 waitresses that served us were a delight and both had a really pleasant manner.... Thanks folks keep up the great work and we will be back but think next time for the High Tea the cakes and scones looked...
Read moreThis was special in many ways. A group of folk, some only meeting for the first time, came together at Castle Club to eat. Scampi, steak pie (my choice), fish and macaroni cheese were meals ordered. Seven in all. It was all served hot and brought at the same time. We weren't the only diners and I noticed that it was the same for every table. Not a plate went back with food on. Huge pots of tea, toast, cakes and scones all came to the table for us to enjoy. Butter too for the varied breads. Real butter mind! The staff were polite and attentive and happy to refill pots, cups and drinks with pleasant banter and a smile. It was truly enjoyable. I might also add it was beautifully clean and the ladies loos were spotless. Nice one, Castle Club. Chef not currently married......
