A friend and I went here for a later evening meal. At the bar i mentioned that I don’t know much about beer but wanted to try a local one. I ended up with something light and fruity, but unfortunately it was flat. No bubbles (that’s what takes the last star away). We waited a rather long time for the food, but being very hungry it proved to be worth the wait. Fish & chips was hearty, but not enough salt (or any!) and the Bangers & mash was solid. We tried haggis for the first time and the waiter asked us for a reaction, which was pleasant. Staff was overall friendly and the environment was easygoing. I’d recommend this place to anyone in the same situation.

Visiting Dumfries for the weekend and decided we couldnt go wrong with a Wetherspoons for lunch. Waited at the bar in a "queue" only to have about 3 "regulars" served before us. Ordered dinner and the female that served me asked if I was sure I wanted to order food as there was a 30-45 minute wait?! I said yes. Placed order and sat with our pint of shandies waiting. Food was lovely (and so was the waiter - he had only been there 2 days and seemed to be working harder than anyone else!). I only gave 3 stars for the food and waiter. For the bar staff would have been 0 stars!!

On a sunny lunch time, we thought let's see how this spoons is going to be like as we knew what type of service to expect. We were pleasantly surprised when we had a quick and efficient service, used the app to order, very easy, greeted at the door with polite staff. Only let down was the mug that I was given for the bottomless hot drinks, was stained and cutlery need re washing. I enjoyed the food and potions did not dissapoint, Almost a perfect score.., keep scrubbing them utensils (or get a better dish washer / service your current one)

We (two of us), arrived first and sat at a table for four. We were waiting for relatives, a family of four to join us. When they arrived they moved two unoccupied chairs from other tables, which l mentioned jokingly we would probably be told off for as a sign on the table said we were NOT ALLOWED to move any furniture!! Literally within seconds we were told that we couldn't put six chairs around the table. We were told that we could go upstairs and sit at two tables which would be near enough for us to be able to speak to each other! We went upstairs and sat at a table for four opposite a table for two, eventually turning the chairs towards each other so that we could hold a conversation, which was OK. We ordered another round on one of the groups laptops which arrived OK but one of the group got a pint instead of a half pint . Later, a member of staff came towards us and told us that if we wanted another round we would have to go down to the bar to order it, as we couldn't order it from upstairs. Weird, but we said fine, whatever. When we did finally order another round the waiter apologised for the mix-up and said we could order from upstairs!! While we were there a friend said he had just been told off for talking to another customer at the bar while their orders were being taken. This guy is in his sixties, not a child! Also, one of the tables our group were sitting at had two empty glasses and two cans left on their table from the previous occupants for two hours while we were there, these were never moved even when their new drinks were delivered. By the time we all left there were six pint glasses and four spirit glasses on the tables which were never taken away while we were there, which meant there was hardly any space on the tables. I could see the point if the place had been busy, but there was only about a quarter of the normal amount of people usually in on a Sunday. This place is usually bad for leaving a lot of dirty glasses on tables, but there's really no excuse when it...

Brutal honesty here. All the surfaces here; including the tables, chairs, menus, forks and knives are sticky and in need of a very serious clean.

Most of the food served and presented is below the average standard of pub grub. Chances are you'll end up getting a wrong order (trust me, I've seen it happen.) That also includes your drinks. Speaking of drinks, this spoons happens to never re-stock their barrels. Every bloody pint I've had was still and watery and what did the staff do upon complaint ... ? Nothing.

If you're coming here with a pal for a nice drink, meal and conversation ... Good luck to you. When it reaches 7:00 in the afternoon, every table and chair is filled by either groups of young drunk folk or drunk pensioners trying to speak as loud as possible. The entire building sounds like a Metallica concert by noon because of the amount of people talking. What makes it worse is everybody trying to compete over each other , therefore shouting even louder , constant loop of noise.

The smoking area is either filled with 'creepy joe' pensioners speaking a load of nonsense or young lads high on substance bouncing about so good luck having a cigarettte.

Overall , this spoons is more of a drinkers bar compared to a resteraunt bar. I'd recommend it for a night or two , but not as a regular stop unless you're catching some pre-pints before a...

Hi. I left my fone on 16th Dec whilst visiting from Sunderland with a large group. A friend foned and you confirmed you had my fone. I suggested I drive back for it on 20th but you said you'd send it via internal mail and I'd get it "in a few days"

I contacted Wetherspoons Head office after almost 2 weeks and you said you'd send it next day. (So already being economic with the truth)

Now, over 3 weeks later I still have no fone. Can't really blame xmas post now.

No one responds to my emails so a kind young man from my local wetherspoons pub (cooper rose) foned you to be told "if it's lost in post, it's not your fault" (very professional!)

As you said you would use internal post, is this now internal theft?

I'm unable to keep in touch with my son who has autism which is causing major issues and my 11yr old can't contact me in an emergency.

PLEASE can you kindly confirm method of post and date sent? I'm still willing to drive the 3 hour journey if you still have my fone. There is sensitive info on the fone along with previous customer personal info and addresses so I can't leave this issue unresolved. I thank you in advance for a response of any description.

Copies to Dumfries and Galloway Standard and...
