This place is lovely and the food was perfect, the staff were very friendly and always checked in with you. Staff seen me struggling to cut my son’s pizza and offered to cut it for us which was a good touch that they paid attention to their customers. I had the bruschetta to start which was lovely and fresh, then arrabbiata pasta for my main and again it was very nice. Portion sizes were perfect.

If you're looking for an authentic family run Italian restaurant in Glasgow this is it. The staff are super kind and the food really stands out. Such a change from the chain run enterprises such as Zizi or Di Maggios. Delicious Pizza and Pasta, I recommend the Alfredo Pasta which was creamy and spicy. Lastly, the decor is lovely and really classy, a gem in Shawlands.

One of my favourite eateries in Glasgow and a true legend in the heart of Shawlands. The food was outstanding, portions plentiful and beautifully presented. The staff were great and service top notch. I will no doubt be back, and will try leave space for desert next time!

Summary: Key issue was our repeated treatment from management for bringing food in for toddler, as this was something that we have done without issue for at least 18 months and were not aware of any issue. We understand that if there is an issue then this needs addressed, but to do so multiple times and in such a manner (as described below) is not OK. If we had been spoken to in a different manner and made aware of the impact, we would have been happy to oblige. This is still an experience that has stuck with us several weeks later it was so shocking No children's menu has ever been provided to us on any occasion in this time

Full review:

Today I went to Oro for lunch with my husband and my toddler. Oro has been one of our favourite restaurants for the past 5 years and up to this point we have visited as a family or with friends at least 2 or 3 times every a month. Sadly after our experience today we do not feel comfortable going back.

Throughout the countless times we have gone to Oro as a family we have never seen a kids menu and therefore assumed they didn't offer one. We have always brought food with us for our daughter and our waiters have always been lovely about it and even heated food up for her. Today was no exception with our waiter and starters and main courses as lovely as ever. However on this occasion an extremely abrasive female manager came up to our table half way through our starters and scolded us for having brought food in for our daughter.

We were taken aback by her tone and manner with us considering how easy it would have been to handle the situation with kindness and humour. This was the first time this was flagged to us and there felt no reason this couldn't be done politely. Her treatment of us put a sour note on our meal but after some time went on we got back to enjoying our meal and our kind waiter really helped to improve our experience. However, as we were walking to the door to leave the restaurant at the end of our meal the same abrasive manager approached me to scowled me for a second time.

This was extremely surprising and is what I find hard to get over. There was no kindness, no checking we enjoyed our meal or anything to lead in to her once again having another go at me. This was shocking to me as I had in no way been argumentative with her request when she came to our table, we immediately did as she asked and apologised so why on earth did she feel the need to cause further damage?

I wondered if perhaps she was unaware of how she was coming across to me and so I calmy explained that she was coming off as abrasive and that I felt she could have handled the situation with a lot more kindness towards us. At this point I would have expected an apology for coming off in such a way or even an attempt to soften her demeaner but instead she became more aggressive and argumentative with me to the point where I excused myself and left.

Since coming home I have continued to be shocked and teary about how she treated me. I am not someone that complains or writes reviews but I am incredibly hurt and disappointed as well as saddened that I no longer feel welcome in what was our favourite restaurant. I still cannot wrap my head around why such a minor mis step was met by such cutting and severe treatment, especially by someone in a managerial position.

In my experience if someone unknowingly does something wrong then all you can do is to let them know. Perhaps I would understand her manner if we had been informed previously and then come back and knowingly disregarded the same guidance. But given we made an innocent mistake and caused zero fuss I am incredibly hurt. I honestly thought that when she came up to me the second time it was going to be to apologise for how short she was with us and to try to...

Wish 0 stars was an option. Never in the life of myself or my 88 year old Great Grandmother, having dined at hundreds of restaurants internationally -- coming from an Italian family with restaurants in Italy have we had such a traumatising, overwhelmingly terrible experience.

Disbelief is an understatement. I ordered penne with cream and I was served penne with cheese so requested a change, the Waiter who was not very enthusiastic to serve us and seemed quite annoyed -- eventually did change the dish which was ultimately his mistake.

The new dish arrived which was meant to be 'Penne Pomodoro'. There was nothing pomodoro about this - sauce was meant to be red and light instead it was dark brown, bland and flavourless. When we received the bill, which was £40.65, I said I was not happy to pay £5.95 for the kids pasta which I only had one spoonful of -- the waiter said we had to pay it so I asked to speak to the Owner, the Owner's daughter came (Cristina Crolla) and said if we didn't pay the £5.95 for the pasta we didn't touch, she'd phone the police so we allowed her to do so. I then decided to just pay the whole bill as I honestly wanted the situation to be over.

I paid the whole bill and then told the Owner on the way out who was on the phone to the Police that I paid the bill, showed the receipt but stated "I won't be back". They said I wasn't welcome back which was undoubtedly unprofessional and ungrateful considering I just paid them money for pasta which was horrible and untouched. I said I'll be making a review online and that's when Cristina Crolla called me a "stupid little boy", growled at me on front of staff and customers and forcefully grabbed me across the floor. I walked back in to confront her then the Owner DOMENICO CROLLA pushed me and shoved me down the wet steps outside which led to me slipping and almost falling. I dialled 999 immediately to report what was a brutal physical assault with many witnesses -- they said they were going to seize the CCTV in the restaurant which I hope they do.

I'll be suing the individuals directly for causing me distress, trauma and bodily harm and the organisation collectively for condoning the physical attacks which occurred within a publicly accessible area -- causing an extreme disruption to other customers. I will also be contacting the newspapers with copies of the CCTV footage which I'll obtain via a public records request through my solicitor to be broadcasted with everyone to show how aggressive these people can be over a £5.95 bland, rotten dish of pasta which was essentially untouched.

If you want to have a relaxing experience, with good service while spending your hard-earned cash -- ORO is not the place. I have attached proof of my...

If I could give less than 1 star for this review I would. I am absolutely shocked at the customer service me and a friend received at ORO last night. The contempt with which the apparent owner treats paying customers is disgusting. However after reading the other 1 star reviews here and on trip advisor, it’s clear I am one of many people who think as such.

The problem began when the waitress brought over the bottle of wine which we had ordered and two glasses. The waitress accidently smashed the two glasses together, sending glass all over the table and floor, and also pieces of glass ended up down my friends top. Although we completely understand accidents happen, its not really an ideal occurance as it did make a bit of a scene in such a busy environment and subsequently we were moved tables.

So after we had our meal we were given our bill and was just asked if we would be paying for our meal seperately or together with no apology or mention of the previous incident. It was mentioned by us that usually if a customer was inconvienced in such a way when spending such a large amount of money on a meal, there would be a gesture of goodwill such as a discount to the bill to appease the customer. After this was said the staff member became aggressive and rude to which we asked to speak to a manager.

The person walked away for a couple of minute’s and immediately returned stating "I own this place’ followed by “recognise your faces and aware you are regular customers here". We are and we thought this would be followed by an apology. We got the opposite. "Don’t come back to this restaurant again". What a way to treat paying customers. Although the bottle of wine was deducted off the bill, the manner in which we were spoken to was out of order.

Usually you can overlook food being over-priced and mediocre if the service and setting are of a high standard. However, the food has gone downhill to match the terrible attitude of the owner. I cannot urge people enough not to visit this restaurant and I’ll be making sure all friends and family are aware of the above.

I really do feel for all the staff within Oro having to work under such...
