Exceptional food and friendly service from a cafe I cannot fault in any way.
When I go into any business, particularly cafes and restaurants, I look both for the good and the bad. In almost every establishment I've visited, I've managed to find some fault or room for improvement, but in the case of Vegan Earth I could find no flaws of any kind.
The cafe isn't large - I would estimate it could accommodate ten to twelve patrons eating in - but the decor makes it feel open and spacious. The seating is comfortable and though we visited in winter, on a very cold day, the interior was warm without feeling oppressive.
The staff are friendly and accommodating with a good knowledge of both the food they serve and their target clientele. In addition to being vegan, my wife is also gluten intolerant and though the cafe does not specifically cater to those seeking gluten free meals, the staff were quickly able to identify several suitable options.
Of course, the most important aspect of a cafe or restaurant is the food and here the food was spectacular. It was served with a salad on the side and, usually, such salads are little more than decoration, but the dressing applied to the salad was outstanding and truly made it a star on the plate.
My only regret is that my wife and I live too far from this cafe to visit on a regular basis. If it was situated in our town, we would eat there every day. We would and will, however, go out of our way to visit this cafe in the future - it is worth the 30 mile detour the next time we visit my wife's...
Read moreWe're Dutch tourists and this place has been on our list for a while should we travel to this area. So happy we managed to visit. It was a week ago but we're still full. The welcome was so warm. So much enthusiasm, humour and heart. The menu was wonderfully original (i.e. not only a standard burger and a salad). For example, I had a seitan 'beef' bourguignon, my husband had sweet potato with chick pea tuna mayo. Portions were generous. All is home made, including some sauces/mayo. Lovely to see it's also a local hangout for neighbours and acquaintances, including non-vegans. Also lovely to see that this is not somebody who has a vegan restaurant because it's a 'trend' to make money of; the many quotes and articles on the wall show it's out of conviction and principle. The owner also paints and one of his works moved me, so we left with full stomachs, pancakes for later...
Read moreI have just moved to Ayr a few days ago, and found this restaurant by Googling for Vegan restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed my full breakfast which was full of flavour, and have eyed up a number of tasty meals for my future visits. I have booked myself in for the course on the 24th May which will be fun . Do come and visit the Vegan Earth occasionally. My health has improved immensely since I went plant based many years ago so I am delighted there is a plant based restaurant I can go to. I was doing body pump classes at a gym when I was 64 years in 2019 . Someone said what age are you now, and I answered 68 and getting younger every...
