Diva Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Sefton

We were lured into this restaurant after some fresh fish and chips and with the lovely music playing and spacious environment. So disappointed and have felt unwell since, have reported to environmental health. Fish batter was suspiciously orange, mushy peas after having to ask for them hot but with a definite darkened and hard crust. Got scraped off and couldn't stomach it. Open ashtray which had been used by the doorway inside the restaurant. This was clearly not used as a facility for customers but in fact staff. Children's play area stacked dangerously with stock, boxes and general detritus in a public facing area. Toilet facilities horrendous. Mould and grime everywhere, floor and walls filthy, open waste bin with used sanitary ware poking out. Sink disgusting, no plug hole so open to main plumbing that was leaking all over the U bend. Sink hole full of grime and mould, felt dirtier washing my hands on it than if I hadn't bothered. Ordered a milkshake, watched the server pick up a dry and withering banana from a display before replacing tjat and getting out a clearly half used banana from the fridge, watched her open it up and show a colleague all the black bits then proceed to use it anyway, breaking it up with unwashed ungloved hands. She even saw me screwing my face up whilst she did this and didn't bat an eyelid. Had observed her cleaning tables minutes before and not going anywhere to wash hands. Tables sticky, seats full of food detritus, saw seats on leaving that had black stains over yellow fabric, thick with dirt and just overall really disappointed that we chose to give this place custom. Like I have said, not one to complain and didn't get the impression that they were very attentive to customer service, food hygiene and general food expiry and safe storage. Went to this place for breakfast…

But left even hungrier than before. My friend, who was extremely starved asked for a nutritious ham and cheese toastie, she perished at the table when a soggy extra cheesey SANDWHICH with a depressing excuse for a salad was put in front of her. It looked like if a 5 year old made his own lunch.

My other friend and I ordered the small breakfast, which came to the table suspiciously quickly, definitely not enough time to make a regular cooked breakfast. The sausages were weirdly pale and our tomatoes were a sloppy pathetic mess. It was a travesty that there were no hash browns.

And to top it all off, the cutlery that we had to use wasn’t washed thoroughly and the forks had old food within the crevices, it looked like someone had used it to clean out their ears. I had to sit their and polish the cutlery myself before use. And even then they were still dirty. We were given one useless napkin. The table was wobbly and the fluorescent white lights have my friend a headache and nausea.

Ordered Fish and chips £7.15 you would expect a decent size fish. Order came and fish was tiny not like the picture as displayed on the menu. The chief replaced the small fish but with another and smaller again fish. I expressed that this was awful chef was defenceless saying its not awful love i said the presentation is! I requested a refund for fish and willing to pay for chips chef said sorry wasted enough fish. I wont be returning to this restaurant. Yet multiple times chief apologised . Unsure why he apologised when he appeared not to emphatic and refused to refund me wont be going again im very disappointed to be treated the way i did as a customer and he tried to shame me saying it only £7.15 which is actually alot of money to me i was going to cook bit thought id treat me and my daughter its Saturday lost my appetite i taken one of the fish for my daughter to eat and i went without bit yeah wont go to this...
