Decided to stop by the market just yesterday around 6:30pm to have a drink and a bite to eat. It wasn’t overly crowded, which is the way i like it. There’s plenty of stalls to choose from, such as; Greek, Italian, American, Canadian, Mexican, Asian Fusion. Safe to say there is a wide variety of different cuisines and cultures across the world that you can choose from.
I decided to opt for latter of that list. (Roll and Bowl it’s named). I decided to build my own bowl, choosing a base: Rice noodles, choosing a sauce: Thai sweet chilli, choosing the protein: Grilled chicken. It all came to about 14.00£, (which for what i got was worth it in my eyes). I was handed a buzzer, and about 10 or so minutes later the device went off and i got to collect my meal.
First things first is the presentation in a rather odd shaped bowl, almost in an oval shape. Anyway, getting back on track. The noodles themselves were soft, chewy and delicious, the Thai sweet chilli sauce was exactly what it is, sweet, but lightly spicy on the tongue, the chicken was succulent and easy to pull apart. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed the flavour’s and depth of this beautiful dish. Bravo! 👍
In conclusion. I would most certainly recommend Southport Market for anybody that’s looking for affordable, good quality food....
Read moreThe new Southport Market is actually a food hall. Different stallholders sell various country's takeaway/Street food. There is the Allotment offering burgers and hot dogs, The Vincent with sushi and noodle dishes, 600 degree pizza offering speciality pizzas cooked in 90 seconds, a Greek stall with everything from meat to vegetarian kebabs and sweet Greek pastries, a Waffle stall for the sweet toothed and, interestingly, a Canadian stall serving poutine, Canadian steaks and other interesting delicacies. The stalls are distributed around the edges of a large hall and at the centre is a huge bar (designed to look like a fairground attraction) serving alcoholic, soft and hot drinks. You choose and pay for your food, get issued an electronic beeper and when it flashes and bleeps your food is ready for collection. Families/friends can therefore sit together but each person can choose food from a different stall. A simple but elegant way of catering for different tastes. Average price for a main is £9-£10, but the portions are large and the burgers we had were extremely tasty. An interesting concept and well...
Read moreGreat food market in the middle of Southport. Good selection of vendors although could be more variety of food as everything on the 'carby' side with the notable exception of Vincent Pacific. The other niggle is on the day we visited most of the stalls had ran out of food and closed, this was from 2pm onwards although it was a bank holiday. Central bar had a decent selection of drinks. I go to Warrington Market most week and in comparison Southport market isn't as good (although although decor is fab) mainly because Warrington in my opinion has a better variety of food stalls, Thai, Chinese, Korean/Japanese, Turkish, Palestinian, Italian etc and I also much prefer the option to order to your table via an app as the buzzer system in place at Southport can be quite disruptive if you've ordered from several outlets as we had. I would definitely visit again, definitely some room for...
