So, I came here last week, and it was so (very, very) good that I promised myself I'd come back when I had more time to test Chef Jake. And test him I did 😮 Got here fifteen minutes before they opened, but that didn't faze anyone in the slightest. Nice young chap named Vladimir opened the place up for me, so I told him privately what I wanted to do, and then let him choose three starter plates for me. That took everyone out of their comfort zone, but WOW, what a selection he came up with. Ordinarily I would've chosen the tried and the tested, but today, I felt adventurous, and tucked into some delicious Crispy Fried Ham Hock with pineapple atchar and chilli caramel vinegar. Korean Cauliflower Bites with gochujang and sriracha mayo, sesame and spring onion. And the Char Sui Glazed Baby Back Ribs with pickled onion, spring onion and sesame seeds. And just like last week, they were better than anything I tasted on Yaowarat Road. Truly scrumptious, with just the perfect blend of the spicy and the sweet. The surprise of the day were the Cauliflower Bites, far and away superior to any boiled ones I rattled up on Christmas Day. And the Crispy Fried Ham Hock tasted amazing dipped in the chilli caramel vinegar. But my favourites were the Char Sui Glazed Baby Back Ribs, because it's so easy to get these wrong (and I've had enough dried out rubbery ribs in the past to realize that this chef knows how to get them so moist they almost fall off the bone). They were amazing. Three dishes I may never have tried before but oh so glad Vladimir pointed me in the right direction. But the whole crew were amazing, considering I'd interrupted them before they'd even started. Young James (who served me) looked almost as excited as me (he really, REALLY wanted me to enjoy my Furusato experience). And I did. So much so that I told Chef Jake to his face ("five stars young fella, five stars PLUS because he didn't realize he was being tested"). Which means he treats all his customers with this kind of respect. And I admire Furusato all the more for that. I don't think young Lauren quite knew what to make of it when she cleared my plates away (I very nearly licked the Korean sauce straight off the plate it was that good) but the whole experience was magnificent. I plan on going back next week to start on the main course menu 🥰 You should pop in and try it. Without doubt the best Pan Asian Restaurant in town. Definitely FIVE STAR...
Read moreWe loved this place, we only heard about it by watching a tiktok by scousegettogormet when he visited and really rated it, there are also lots of gluten free options which was a winner for me, we where greeted by a lovely member of staff and taken to our table straight away, the drinks and food came quickly after ordering, and the food was amazing, lots of options and a bit different to the normal, not the cheapest place you could eat but the quality of the food defo warrants the cost, not frozen reheated rubbish but freshly cooked to order, I was a bit dissapointed that we couldn't have a booth as I would have enjoyed my experience more had we been allowed to but I did understand they probably had bookings for bigger groups that would need them and it was a Saturday night, I didn't go full stars for food only because the desert menu wasn't very exciting for us gluten free customers, I feel icecream and sorbet is just a cop out when you can get lots of lovely deserts which are gluten free, defo felt like I was missing out, and couldn't give full stars for service as we did spend alot of time trying to get staff attention to order drinks, desert and to pay, and no one came over as in most restaurant to ask was everything okay, this is standard in most too restaurant, I don't like waitresses fussing over us every five min but just checking in every now and again would have been appreciated, that said these where only very small gripes and didnt effect our experience and wouldnt effect our decision on whether to come back, we loved loved loved it the issues we had where tiny and...
Read moreI recently dined at Furusato Bar & Grill, and it was an exceptional experience. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive impression.
The food at Furusato is outstanding in terms of freshness and quality. For starters, I highly recommend trying the Korean Chicken Wings. They were packed with flavor and had the perfect balance of spice and crunch. For the main course, the Braised Mongolian Lamb Shoulder was a true highlight. The meat was tender and rich in taste, cooked to perfection.
To accompany your meal, don't miss the Salt & Pepper Loaded Fries. They were a delightful side dish, adding an extra layer of indulgence to the meal. And, of course, for dessert, the Warm Chocolate Chip & Peanut Cookie was a sweet and satisfying way to end the evening.
What makes Furusato even more appealing is the reasonable pricing, considering the quality of the food and the overall experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Furusato Bar & Grill to anyone in search of a new dining destination. I certainly plan on returning soon to savor their delicious...
