Read moreIf you like Macao or Hornby trains then this is the pub for you. There are lots of bits of McCone on display and also several niches with older Hornby models in them
Frank Hornby formerly known as the Everest hotel is a decent JD Wetherspoons Just off the M58 junction for maghull/kirkby and it’s my local. 🙂
Very small car park less than 10 or 12 spaces and difficult to turn . You can park on the nearby roads but again limited space and quite narrow. This pub is on the 31 bus route from Maghull station.
The food is okay generally and the beer range is absolutely top-notch . Seems to specialise in decently kept real Ale and there are usually five six or even eight real ales on the pumps including ciders and stouts.
The bar is delightful to look at and has a large range of premium spirits also canned and bottled specialty brands.
Staff are friendly and service prompt
On the Wetherspoon scale, I give it a 4 out of 5. But if you are used to proper restaurant food the food probably rates at 2 out of 4 although you might get lucky and get a decent standard Wetherspoons stock meal.
Before 9 pm, it’s very family friendly and there is no swearing in the establishment that I’ve ever heard.
Go and visit, enjoy your meal and have...

I wouldn't say this is a reflection on all whetherspoons staff because they couldn't have been any politer and helpful, but I don't think this waiter should be working with the public and I think he should've been taken off the floor as soon as he was reported. Once again, lovely food and the majority of the staff where delightful but unfortunately my experience was...
