so this was our second visit , one year apart. I did not leave a review last time as I thought it might just have been a one off. This taverna gets some good reviews so do not thinks its all bad. we may just be unlucky
They do an early bird menu , which means it can get busy and noisy , this may be why we had food issues. We where in a biggish group (14ish ) and on both occasions we where packed into a corner with tables pushed together. the said tables are intended for one person, but we where squeezed three to two. Which meant you had to eat with arms like a tyrannosaurs , my sides aced by the end. Packed against a window so that if one wanted to move six or seven had to.
The first visit we tried moussaka , it had a crust on ! perhaps , we thought its a weird speciality ... and did not complain .... being English we are good at this.
This time the food was better as we picked differently. one main was the mixed kebabs, .... well over cooked ... thought about asking for a steak knife. other main OK ....Again being English ....
I did not hear any one else in the group complaining , but did not specifically ask.
so...
my recommendation ... think about a visit in smaller groups and outside the early bird menu time. you may be luckier than we are, plus forget being English and complain if...

Read moreYou will find this excellent taverna nestled between the Northway Road and the Leeds-Liverpool canal. The atmosphere is lively and positive; the service friendly and efficient; and the food tasty and plentiful.
The Taverna offers a good choice of traditional Greek cuisine at fair prices. The portions are large with the main dishes all coming with vegetables, salads, rice and chunky chips.
At my recent visit I shared a special mixed kebab for 2, but there was easily enough on the plate for a 3rd person! It was delicious and went down well with a cold Mythos beer!
There is a wide choice of places to eat in Maghull, but the Greek Taverna is always busy. Given its popularity I would suggest ringing ahead to...
