The Blue Anchor — Restaurant in Sefton

In some respects this pub is a microcosm of the decine of the British bar trade. Prior to the smoking ban it was a busy,popular place and on a Sunday packed to the rafters. Went in today and although able to breathe more easily in a smoke free environment found it almost empty. It was never the most salubrious of alehouses but now the furnishings are held together with duct tape. It is a sports oriented pub with TV monitors everywhere including the gardens. Children play area is next to the smoking area. Nice background music from a certain era. Mainly male clientele, therefore not a place for cosy drinking and dining. Outside of the building looks tired but on the plus side, they have beautiful stained glass all over.
