Hanoi House — Restaurant in Sefton

Hanoi House is a great addition to Southport, which is incredibly limited in choice of world food.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical walking in because I’ve been disappointed so many times — restaurants claiming to be Vietnamese but really serving food that was, for all intensive purposes, no better than takeaway Chinese food. This wasn’t the case.

The food is definitely Vietnamese — though a little on the pedestrian side in terms of seasoning. But they have fish sauce and Sriracha and chili oil on the table so I understand why they’re playing it a little safe.

We started off with the spring and summer rolls. Both were fab though I wasn’t wild about the lettuce in the summer roll. They use a piece of Butterhead as an extra layer of wrapping. The problem is the sickly green of the lettuce (esp as it wilts) through the rice paper isn’t very appetizing. And the lettuce is also used to pad out the roll which isn’t the best idea.

For my main I had the pho gai which was perfectly nice. They were smart enough to use the wider rice noodles which is great.

The service was fantastic. Two very nice guys waited on us and they vaguely look like they should be in a pop band.

The only things I might fault were the prices (a little high) and the decor which is a little strange bordering on kitsch. If the restaurant was decorated a little better and had more atmosphere, it would justify the prices.

😡 Disappointed Review... Hanoi House Don't usually do reviews, but the service for takeaway is very poor. Ordered a takeaway, which was not cheap, and not one item arrived correctly. A meal for two was ordered but only one meal came which was neither of the orders. The phone number on takeaway leaflet and Google have just rang out for 3 days so unable to contact the company and as ordered through just eat, we have to go through a process to try and get money back. Over £50 down and no food either, very very disappointed be careful when ordering a takeaway away from them. Just eat got in touch 3 days later, and as we no longer have the evidence, they won't...

Amazing Vietnamese food, absolutely to die for, if you ever want food to make your mouth water and beg for more then this place is the go to venue. Brilliant staff with a lovely atmosphere, the woman Jo behind the bar is amazing to say the least and she couldn't do anymore to help with anything requested or required. This place is a must go to place for food without doubt, I am still sitting at home wanting more of the tastes they can provide. I will be going bk regularly without doubt. Thank you Hanoi house for such an amazing taste bud sensation, all I can add is WOW and "Cảm ơn rất nhiều" translation is Thank...
