Wheelchair Model Diaries
The Mount Pleasant (Manchester Road Southport)
I took my lovely Grandma out for some Lunch to the Mount Pleasant. She loves it there! They do a fantastic midweek special meal deal, which includes a drink and an ice cream!
There is a car park around the back of the pub, and there is also two disabled spots at the front of the pub too. The access to the entrance was easy, nice and flat and lovely big double doors, the first set where propped open so just one set to hold open for me to access with my wheelchair
We looked for a table inside on the ground level but there where only a couple I could sit at in my chair and the rest were high bar stools, so we decided to sit on the upper floor. There is two steps to enter this level, and they did provide a ramp. However the ramp was far too steep unfortunately and so I did have to navigate the steps
The table was the perfect height to sit at, and when I asked the waitress if we could access table service, she was extremely helpful and agreed
We chose from the weekday special menu, I had the Chilli Con Carne and Gran had her fave Liver and Onions! I chose to upgrade my dessert to a biscoff cheesecake because well, who can resist a biscoff anything!!?
The food and drinks where served to the table and the food was very nice. Cheap and cheerful, midsize portions. The cheesecake was out of this world!
We paid at the table as well and the staff were all absolutely lovely, they did offer is the ramp each time we needed to use the bathroom, but it was too steep. There was no separate disabled toilet unfortunately and the toilets were not able to be reached in my wheelchair. There was a disabled cubicle inside the ladies, but this was more suitable for an elderly person rather than a disabled wheelchair user as there was no room to access the toiler entry and once inside, no room to turn
We very much enjoyed our lunch, and the staff really made our time there pleasant, but unfortunately the facilities let it down a bit for me

Read moreUpon coming to pop on my review, I glanced over previous reviews, only to find a review, of a group of diners who where in the conservatory in said Mount public house when I dined here, So firstly I only feel its right to review the large table of people who basically darkened my dining experience at this venue, Listening to the quite undignified complaints from this table of people was appalling, they basically had the poor staff running around trying to weigh out food ! And then planning how most, to gain money off the meals which had no pattern left on the plates by the time these people had snoffled the food down, frankly disgusting behaviour, never have I come across such bizarre behaviour from fellows customers on my reviewing tours. Anyway back to why Im here, Staff faultless..happy smiling staff, Food super, bbq melt mmmm Surroundings, good old traditional pub 👌 Clean 100% home cooked food 😋 Well deserved 5* all round Thank you for being so welcoming, and answering my food questions I asked ...you were...
Read moreI've visited this pub many times and I've never had a complaint. Good old fashioned pub food at a great price. It is a sports pub and so I am marking it as such, the TVs about are fantastic and you can view it from a good range of places in the pub. However there is also plenty of space for those that do not want to watch the match including a very pleasant and substantial conservatory area as well as a second bar for function events. I have been here for a wake and the spread put on was fantastic. A great outside area, partially covered, and although our dog could not go inside, a member of management came out with all the trimmings of the days roasts in a container for the dig, and he was extremely pleased. Lovely atmosphere and very clean. There is a good protected parking area to the rear as well as free street parking in the vicinity. ...
