Fantastic service, nice coffee but average pain au chocolat.
It was my first time visiting this coffee shop and it’s been on my list for a long time. This coffee shop is located in the Broomhill area of Sheffield, near the Morrison’s supermarket. It opens from 8am-6pm usually.
The cafe is pretty small overall and with COVID measures in place there was arguably less seating available which makes complete sense.
The staff that served me was very friendly and seemed to love his job, I’m thinking he was the manager? He took care of my order and sat me and friends down at a table.
I ordered the pain au chocolat and the salted caramel brownie with an iced mocha. They offer student discount, my total came to £8.90. The brownie was tasty and soft, the pain au chocolat wasn’t as tasty and was more on the tougher side to munch on and the iced mocha tasted great.
Overall, fantastic service and good coffee but the pain au chocolat just didn’t taste good on the day I visited unfortunately! However, I’d still recommend this café for a nice...
Read moreHadn't been to Cawa before, but drawn in by lovely external architecture of the 'la reserve' area, adjacent to the original cafe. Inside decor is disappointing. Attempts to uncover some original features left unfinished and the corner area looks messy. It was freezing cold, could only sit with coat on, as it was warmer outside. It's a large bright space which would take some costly heating. My guess is that the old style vented upper windows might have planning protection but definitely needs double glazing. Cost £12 for 2 coffees and a croissant which were OK but not amazing. Real bonus to have the choice of fully skimmed milk though. I fear this business, having expanded, won't survive unless the inflated prices are used to put back into development of the interior, or there is more marketing of 'la reserve' as a night venue/room for hire, or as an improved eatery. Croissants warmed up in a microwave don't quite cut the mustard. Staff lovely, service swift, tables...
Read moreReally disappointed!! we had really high hopes as friends have had good experiences at this cafe. We bought a loaf of bread, doughnuts and almond croissants as well as cappuccinos which were all slightly overpriced but looked very aesthetically pleasing. First impression of the coffee is that the take out cup was smaller than usual for the price compared to other cafes but my main issue is the loaf of bread was stale! The doughnuts and croissants were obviously not fresh either and too sweet for me to finish more than a bite!! Spent around £20 on all of the items and ended up putting them in the bin!! Baked goods were definitely not fresh as expected and were hard and practically inedible :( if it was just one item that wasn’t to my liking I would consider returning and give the shop the benefit of the doubt but I could not enjoy anything and will definitely not be returning for...
