Chan's Chinese Takeaway — Restaurant in Sheffield

Its always hard to place an online order when there are no descriptions of the things your buying, only; “Special Fried Rice” without and description of what it might entail.

Regardless of the descriptions we think we know our way around a chinese take away menu so what we ordered was pretty much what we got on delivery.

Although we were staying less than 500m away the order took over an hour to be delivered, even though at check out it was indicated as 35-40min.

The Special Fried Rice was not special, it had no discernible texture or flavour, the rice felt more steamed than fried and the chicken and other meats literally had no flavour or texture, just pulp.

The Sweet and Sour HK style Chicken was tough and flavourless The chicken had the texture of meat that has freezer burn leathery and bone dry. Expensive bin fodder.

The redeeming platter was the Szechuan Mixed Veg, tasty, flavoursome, enjoyable.

So in a £23.00 meal, £6.00 of it was edible.

We wont be ordering again and if we could give it minus stars we would....

I moved to sheffield in september, I was sad to leave my regular chinese takeaway yet excited to find a new favourite. I've spent weeks trawling various restaurants, each with their merits but all having negatives. maybe their chow mein was delicious, but their sweet and sour wasn't all that. perhaps their food was amazing but the portion sizes were too small.

I found Chan's recently, and have yet to find a fault with their service. a few of my orders have even been earlier than just eat predicted (you love to see it) their portions are the perfect size, delivery drivers are friendly, all the dishes i've ordered have been the tastiest out of all the chinese takeaways i've been to and importantly, their prices are very good

in short: this is the best chinese takeaway i've been to in sheffield, and i will miss them during the christmas and summer holidays when i go home...

Absolute shambles. Ordered food at 18:05, said it would be delivered by 19:15, didnt end up coming until 20:15. Me and my boyfriend were greeted by a smiling delivery driver who exclaimed "am I late? Sorry guys" not very sincere.. The food was cold when we eventually got to playing it up, the sweet and sour sauce was cheap tasting and watery, the curry was nothing more than tasteless goo, the beef was chewy and fatty. The only good thing was the seaweed, the chips were cold and squishy. Absolute mess, would never come here again, we rang the takeaway about 15 times asking where our food was and it was as if they recognised our number and didnt pick up on...
