In the busy streets of Spital Hill, you'll find Damascus Bakery, a place that brings the flavors of Syria to life. As soon as you walk in, you'll smell fresh bread and spices that make you feel like you're in a bustling Syrian market.
The bakery looks beautiful inside, with colorful Syrian tiles on the walls. But it's the food that really shines. One of the best things to try is the kunafa, a sweet Syrian treat made right in front of you. It's fun to watch the bakers make it, and even better to eat it! If you like sweets, you'll love this place. They have lots of Syrian desserts, but my favorite is their biscuits filled with dates and covered in sesame seeds. They're just the right mix of nutty and sweet, and it's hard to eat just one.
They also have great savory foods. Try the manakish, which is like a flatbread topped with za'atar (a tasty mix of herbs) or labneh (a creamy cheese). It's simple but really good. They've also started serving Syrian shawarma and roast chicken, which come with fries, garlic sauce, and salad. Both are very tasty.

Read moreBest baklava and kunafa I ever had 🥹 They are so kind and cheerful too. The prices are also amazing. Definitely will be our new daily breakfast spot. Immediately one of my favorite places in Sheffield 💕💕
Also want to say I visited on one of the busiest days of the year (Eid) and the wait was not bad the kunafa is freshly made by hand and took maybe 10-15 mins. I think the recent negative reviews must be fake. But even still I feel like if you value short wait time over the quality of the food then you should have fast food not expect true quality at fast food speed. Our old place had food and drinks ready in 5 mins most days but the quality does not compare. I’m so grateful to find a place serving high quality, fresh, affordable food and sweets and they will have my business for as long as I’m in Sheffield. It is worth waiting a few extra...
Read moreLovely wood fired thin base koftah pizza, with a Meat on Dough.. and amazing freshly made Kunafah. Great service and lovely food. Would definitely go back!
I came back again and found that they’ve expanded their premises into next door. They’ve also expanded their menu to include even more great dishes. We decided to have lunch/brekkie here and tried a couple of of the new items we hadn’t tried before. Food was fantastic and service second to none. The gentleman serving us was super helpful and excellently explained what each of the new dishes were. I’d highly recommend this hidden...
