I love the atmosphere here... my favourite person is Ben. Usually the food it perfect. Today however I can only conclude its either a trainee chef in the kitchen or the usual chef is having a really bad hair day, oil was probably way to hot and old oil...which could be tasted in the food. Starters of Crumbed Mushrooms with garlic mayo... had to ask for the garlic mayo..no schwet, minor issue, the shrooms however were rock hard...I did not know you could turn a shroom into a stone...apparently today's chef knows just how, the fork wouldn't even penetrate the crumbed shrooms which bounced off my plate. The crumbed chicken strips crumbs were equally hard. Inside was dry and hard and tasteless. They are usually juicy and you are nit at risk of busting a tooth. Steak and Ale Pie saved the day.. the pastry was divine, contents were succulent with a nice thick gravy. The peas and accompanying chips however were awful...definitely heated up in the microwave... The onion rings should not have been plated and sent out, very evident they were cooked in old oil. Overcooked and ice cold. Cowboy burger was perfect, accompanying chips were ice cold and rock hard. Chef was definitely not on top form today.

First time eating here. Visited because they were offering 30% off food... Sadly when ordering this was rejected because 'its a football day'. Ordered the mega mixed grill, beef roasts, and kiddies roast. The food was cooked well, and tasty and when we requested condiments and takeout boxes they were provided. Drinks were really expensive though pushing close to £6 a pint, and coke £3.75 a pint. Venue was clean with a steady flow of people. Bitter taste left though after being declined the offer, as signed up to Marstons to receive the code and no mention of no offer on food.... Football wasnt starting for 5hrs... Marked down on this basis.

The food is very nice and is taken and served out quickly. I had the Hunters Chicken Fried, which was £12.79 and it was good, but you can order normal Hunters Chicken, which is roasted instead of fried, and that it £11.79. Also, at 6 pm, they ran a pub quiz, which I took part in and sadly lost, but top prises can consist of money and gift cards. The quiz has 4 rounds, which can be on topics like TV shows and other general topics. Would definitely come again.

We have been here many times from work as it is local we have always had really lovely times until now. We are used to the staff always getting the steak orders wrong they never seem to know what cuts they are serving or which one is cooked how. Last night was appalling. Despite having booked and paid a deposit there was no table for us when I asked a member of staff when it would be ready she said she would find out after that every time she passed where we were waiting she deliberately looked away and scurried past. Eventually we were given a table that had been hurriedly put together in the ‘children’s play area’ next to an external door that children were constantly running in and out of sending cold blasts up the table every time. We had to wedge Menus under the table legs to stop them rocking as they were half on carpet and half on flooring. We all ordered our meals including starters at the bar and paid for them. I asked the barman about the £20 deposit I had paid and he said he would get the manager to sort it out. We all got our starters which, as usual, were beautiful but 1hour and 10 minutes later we were still waiting to have the table cleared despite a family who had come in after we had started our starters being served and staff continually walking past the table. We asked to speak to the manager who apologised and gave us 1 bottle of free wine between 10 of us!!! The table was cleared and our mains came, there was the usual fiasco with the steaks and sauces missing but once sorted the food was really nice. when we finished our main courses we sat for 40 minutes waiting for the table to be cleared I eventually went and asked a member of the bar staff to get someone to clear the table so we could order sweets, again the sweets were lovely. So all in all the food was lovely but the service was diabolical. My advice would be don’t go here at busy times because the staff can’t cope but any other time go for it. I am so glad I was with really...

Updated review following a full management response. I was pleased to receive a considered response, with explanation. This has made all the difference. I accept that sometimes for whatever reason service can be compromised, but assured this was an unfortunate one-off. Thank you for the personal response and resolution. I will update further once I dine again, and offer a more positive appraisal, thank you.

Initial review / concerns raised:- I can comprehend the information on your site, including opening times. Without checking my GPS time line and accuracy of your CCTV time stamp I cannot be certain of the exact seconds of arrival and departure. Don't try arguing that I was at fault and did not follow your site directives. My directive is that YOU need to be more clear, MORE courteous, and suggest you instruct your patrons to be seated and ordered by 20:30. I will copy this update to the CEO too.

Very unimpressed because of the disorganisation and sheer lack of any acknowledgement that I and my party were grossly inconvenienced. Online booking accepted for 21:00. Arrived and seated by 21:07. Told we could sit where we wanted. So we did. Unfortunately then advised that LAST FOOD ORDER was at 21:00. Why on Earth was our booking accepted? If I had been advised of this, I would NOT have wasted my evening, petrol and patience visiting. I have honestly not known anything like it before. Has a result, was unable to source suitable food elsewhere - so it was back home to prepare something instead. Thoughtless customer service. You should have advised pf the consequences of not been there well BEFORE the accepted table booking of 21:00 - ie. Getting abruptly turned away with no food. I am been reasonable here, many would not be. One of the party has MS, with mobility issues, it took a little planning tonight to get there, to be rebuked. Management need to review their processes. I will be emailing...

So we booked the Santa breakfast. What went well Staff were doing their best and we're helpful. Santa's grotto was nice. There were nice decorations up. What wasn't very good. The food was poor. There were small portions for how much it cost (one piece of bacon). The toast was warm bread which I sent back. The coffee was instant. This should have been fresh and brought to the table. You should not have to queue like in a canteen to get a luke warm I stant coffee. There weren't enough cups for the kids drinks. There should have been apple juice and orange juice, not squash for how much it cost. People waited up to an hour to get their breakfasts. It wasn't well planned out. You should have the food ready like at an all you can eat buffets, so that it can be served to everyone at the same time. The wait for Santa's grotto was ridiculous. This should have been planned out far better. There had been no reasonable adjustments considered for disabled children (they should have been fed and seen Santa first). The gift was a selection box. Very unhealthy. Would have been better buying a £1 book each from the works. I had to remind staff that my son is dairy intolerant therefore should not receive a selection box. I had emailed about this previously. They did produce a colouring book just before he went into the grotto. It could have been great, but you booked far too many people in for it to work. You would be better only booking 15 every 2 hours and doing it over lunch and tea. It needs to be better organized and the quality of the food and drinks improved. Won't be booking again and won't be...
