Taco Mex — Restaurant in Sheffield

We phoned up to query a menu item and the staff were helpful, friendly and I cannot fault them there at all. However it the food was not really what we expected. I paid extra for guacamole on my nachos but it there was none and there was also barely any cheese. A few bits of grated cheese but I couldn't taste it. Just heaps and heaps of salsa. The chilli beef meat didn't really have any flavour. It definitely wasn't 'chilli'. It tasted a bit like tuna in brine. Vegetarian chilli tacos wasn't really what I expected vegetarian chilli to be. It was sort of like a salsa with celery chunks in it. So because that was my order and I was sharing nachos I just felt as if I had salsa and more salsa with celery in it. Burritos very good portion size, even the kids burrito meal is a good size and plenty for little bellies... but just a very bland taste. I expected food to be much much hotter because I associate Mexican food with heat. I'm not sure if maybe because in our house we are used to very spicy food, but for us it was just very plain and I definitely felt the nachos should be laden with cheese and I really missed the guacamole I ordered. I'm unsure if the food is 'homemade' or uses catering supplier for tins of 'chilli' ect. If I could I would give friendliness and helpfulness of staff full stars and food quality...

I ordered food for 3 people tonight at 8pm on Just Eat. After waiting for an hour, I called the shop to ask where the food was. I was told the driver left the shop 5 minutes ago with our delivery. I then waited another 45 minutes, still no food, so I called again and of course, they said the same thing, the driver will be there shortly. Still, nothing was delivered. I called the shop back and spoke to the manager who said it was a busy night and the roads are busy also. The Just Eat app also said food had been delivered by this point too, which was not true! We ended up waiting a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes for the delivery and when it arrived, the delivery driver told me “we can’t deliver food that’s not cooked”....so maybe you shouldn’t lie about the food being on its way an hour and a half before it actually is then! AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THE ORDER WAS WRONG!!! I asked for “no mixed beans or jalapenos” on the Just Eat app, and it was filled with just that! I ended up throwing it in the bin and went to McDonald’s. The roads weren’t busy on the way either! If you’re hungry, DONT ORDER FROM HERE!!! They’ll just lie to you until they can be bothered to deliver your food, and even then, they’ll give you...

I have only tried the restaurant Twice.

Once indoors last year, I can't remember the much about the food (guess that speaks for itself as well) I guess it was okay at best but nothing 'amazing'. Interior was good and staff were nice, can't complain about that. I would advise dining in...BUT...

NEVER will I order again from this place via Uber Eats! The most horrible food I ever ordered from Sheffield by far. Buritto sauce was spicy and tasted worse than it looked despite me ordering medium salsa. The Frittas had no quality and the rice was stale. Potato Wedges however we're surprisingly really good, weirdly it's one of the best I have had. I threw 3 out of the 4 food in the bin, not a good result.

At a push and only due to the indoor experience I would give it a - 2.5/5 - My advise if you happen to dine in here and you want an 'extra' get a dessert that's a safe option, don't try the other fancy sides, they may look good in picture but taste bland. Taco Mex has left me Taco Vex'd after that Uber Eats order.

Maybe I will dine again indoors as a third time lucky, hopfully, I can find a good combo of foods this place serves as there are alot of options. Surely it can't...
