The Portland House Bar — Restaurant in Sheffield

Sadly need change my review again from 5 star to zero ( I can't) so for 1 star (((( after covid this pub is absolutely amazing ( Molly, and another girls is working there amazing and absolutely well) after girls go out pub still run,, alright,, apart stupid dog have more way than customers,, then getting better and better this year, going back to proper pub bar with great staff ( well done boys) but today 22 November....omg, staff stay outside, didn't care for customer come in, then come to serve someone who be in line after me..... then trying put new barrel of beer 4 times... don't work))))) and put me stay in bar like a idiot (((((( for approx 10 minutes.... without saying something....so, it's sadly to say, stay away if you can, or, hope you find proper staff. Good luck. Update... getting back to 5 stars cos owner do it great job and this little pub getting top of pubs in Ecclesale road. Friendly and very welcoming. So again, highly...

I visited here with my wife and dog. We were met with a sarcastic comment “The dog can’t come in unless he’s buying a drink too”. 2 things; you just assumed my dogs gender and how can he buy a drink he doesn’t even work?

Anyway, we reluctantly purchases 3 drinks. The melancholy vibe made us feel unwelcome, as if we’ve just crossed into enemy lines as double agents… Shortly after, we were verbally extracted for being “Seriously not chill” and “Heedless” to the posse that dwell within this establishment.

A rollercoaster of a stopover to say the least. An acquired taste, if I could describe it… Budget Cola and cheap Vino.

I will be visiting again, perhaps when I’m feeling a little bit too overjoyed then I can return and endeavour into sombreness and resentment for living my modest life and not being “Chillll” enough.

They have 2,736 craft beers, 1 wine...

It's very relaxed in here, a cross between a pub and a bar. The bitters were ok, not really anything great though as there is such good choice in Sheffield. They have up to 6 hand pulls on and usually something different like a porter or a farmers blue. Service can be a little slow sometimes as the bar staff have to do way more than just serve (clearing glass, filling dish washer etc etc) and it gets busy on Friday but over all...
