The ambience of this place is perfect. It is located on the main road into Chesterfield Derby Rd, so it can not be missed. All the staff are very welcoming . There are four areas that you can dine in . We have now tried all four, and they are equally staffed and served at a high degree . Owners with dogs are encouraged to bring them along and dine at the extensive garden dining area lower to the main building . Here, you will find a large seating area covered with climbing wisteria. The main entrance to the building leads you to indoor dining and upstairs is the romantic dining area with the ceiling decorated in apple blossom perfect for that special or private function occasion. The exterior of the property has a wrap around balcony ideal for the smoking sector and pets. The floor is incredibly sticky but toilets were clean. Would review higher, however we encountered a very rude member of staff. We went in to quickly use the toilet (as anyone with small children will know, if they are desperate you just need to get there quickly to avoid an accident) so I didn't have time to find a staff member to ask to use the facilities beforehand. When we came back down, this staff member, very loudly and sarcasticly said 'thank you, I'll be at your house tomorrow to use your toilet too without asking' then walked off behind the bar. I’m shocked an stunned. Asked politely if any one was serving after being walked past by the landlord and member of staff and waiting approx 8 mins just waiting at the bar was blasted down immediately by the landlord and was told to leave. In fact not told screamed at!! Used to come here all the time. I will never enter the pub again and the landlord should be removed as unable to control his temper! I am a 60 year old woman so as you can imagine not a yob and and will be complaining to the brewery. Even the customers already in the pub were shocked...
