Rude old woman, no drinks, dirty toilets. Went today spent £50.50 on a lunch for 4 people. The chap who served us was lovely however after 30 minutes waiting we still hadn't received our drinks. Told a member of staff who said they were on with them, 10 minutes later on cusp of walking out, meals arrived, still no drinks, pointed out unacceptable to old woman working there who snapped can't you see we're rammed.....not my problem love, there were loads of staff with bad organisation, if there is to be a wait, explain to customers before they're seated. Went to toilets, toilet paper and womens sanitary products on floor, filthy, no bins. I'd recommend giving this place a big fat swerve.

Fabulous place, great food, great staff, this ham salad was my lunch yesterday and it was really lovely. Perfect for me as it came dressing free, but you can ask for it. My husband had the small breakfast which looked amazing and our daughter had a baked potato with tuna. Really good sized portions and very fresh. Always eat here when we visit Skipton, never fails to please and satisfy whether it's just tea and cake or a lunch. Deserves 10 stars

To be fair, it was one of the few places open on Boxing Day and the staff were working there backsides off but unfortunately I can’t give it too much more in terms of positivity. Cappuccino was…well coffee, the decaf that we ordered wasn’t decaf, Scrambled eggs were fine but that’s about the end of it. Tea cake and scone were heated and ok…I think the least that is said the better. 3 stars for the staff working on Boxing Day

Worst experience I have ever endured in a café. After recieving our food, my partner asked a member of staff for a plate for the dog to eat off of. The staff member agreed and gave her a plate. During our meal, another member of staff, stopped us eating and rather embarrassed us in front of the shop floor. She stated that the dog eating off the plate was not ok. She kept repeating "that's not ok." In a raised tone. She talked down to us in an awful tone, totally disrespecting us infront of all the other customers. Totally spoilt our meal, my daughter couldn't finish her meal because of how mortified she was, because of how the way we were disrespected. My partner said that another member of staff gave us the plate that we said specifically said was for the dog. She didn't seem interested in explaining to other staff that it wasn't allowed, she was more interested in belittling us in front of others. As we were leaving we were accompanied by amounts of stares that made us feel like we had done something wrong when it was a clear miscommunication that could been handled so much easier. I have travelled across the UK and frequented many bars and cafés and never have I ever experienced impertinence like this before. It put us in quite the unhappy mood for the rest of our day out in Skipton. It says dogs are welcome but it feels like people are not. Definitely will not be visiting again. Unfortunately, I can not give this place no stars, but if I could I...

Ordered 2 toasties, portion of chips, pot of tea and a cafetier. One of the toasties had MOULD on the bread. Thinking about it, it did have a strange taste! I complained and I was asked if I wanted a replacement, another toastie. I replied no, because of the mould. The waitress apologised for the mould and asked if there was anything else I wanted instead. I asked for a toasted scone. The waitress refunded the toastie and charged me for the scone. I didn't feel this was right as I'd received mouldy food. The scone should have been complimentary. Also I asked about deducting the chips as they were for my toastie. The waitress said my Mum had had some so no.....I informed her my Mum had had only a handful. She was very reluctant to refund the chips. In the end after an apology which wasn't very forthcoming, a refund for the toastie and chips, I cancelled the scone and felt the whole issue was dreadful. I asked who was in charge and she informed me it was herself. Absolutely dreadful customer service! Won't go there again and wouldn't recommend...

Oh dear what a negative experience we had in this place- again. We visited this cafe some years ago & had lunch . Turned out to be pretty dire & I wrote a review that reflected this & received a quite frankly offensive reply! We love Skipton & as we were in the town again recently we thought we'd take another look at the Terrace cafe( we fancied a scone & couldn't find anywhere else serving them). We assumed after a number of years the place would either have new owners or improved or both. Ordered 2 Americanos & 2 scones. The coffee was fairly vile & we couldn't finish it. That was nothing compared to the scones. They may have been delicious when fresh but goodness knows how old they were. When will cafes realise that ( obviously) scones need to be made daily, they are simply not edible the next day or thereafter. What made it worse is that they were very expensive- £3.40 for an inedible scone. We would have been more than happy to pay that for a fresh one. Certainly will not be visiting this...
