Average food & terrible service This is the very first time I would like to share a negative feedback publicly. I’ve been to quite a number of Michelin 1-3 stars restaurants and this restaurant is definitely not ready to be one of them. As Michelin is not that fair as it used to be, I think I do need to share the actual experience and people won’t be too disappointed as myself.

Booking experience- 5 stars.Very good via official website. It reminds you via both email and phone calls.

Arrival and seating experience- 2 stars. No smile when greeting although asked typical greeting questions. I understand this is a small private restaurant and there is very limited room for seats. But The seats and table for 2 pax are TOO narrow as you will be asked to move even more close to give way. And we are not big but still very uncomfortable.

Dining experience- Nice ordering. Serving could be better as our main courses were swapped- could understand as a result of busy evening. Explanation of food is good.

Food quality- average and definitely not up to Michelin level. The potato with the lamb and the veg sauce with hake is very salty. Very good almonds with lamb though.

hygiene and risk management attitude - terrible. There was hair on the cheese plate. When I asked nicely to change this particular piece of cheese but could keep the others, there was no single word of apologies.

Overall service- Hugh room to improve if would like to be a good one. This is the first time that I was given the bill before I ask in a fine dinning. And when I went out I understood - there are walk-in people who are waiting for tables. “Leave and I will have more pounds” this behavior said.

I wrote on the special requirements area when booking that it would be my birthday. I didn’t expect anything extra like a glass of wine or a birthday dessert as the other restaurants did. But simple words like Happy Birthday and a candle. I believe the best way is avoid similar disaster is either hire one more person to help or reduce 1-2 tables. I understand and respect that running a restaurant could be very difficult but as you do and you charge at this price(42 pounds 3 courses), it could have...

I want to start out by saying that I’m not a seafood person and can’t attest to the quality of the oysters or other shellfish. They seemed to be popular from what I could tell.

The restaurant is quaint and seats about 14 people or so. Reservations are a must. We got there a bit early and were seated right on time.

I ordered the pork terrine, asparagus, roasted potatoes and pork belly. This place offers a tapas-style menu and the plates come out as they are ready. It took about 40 minutes before one plate came out. I was a bit agitated as I felt our food was taking a while and people who had arrived after my party were being served first. Three tables who arrived after us were served first. Some were even served multiple dishes. Maybe it’s not common practice in the UK, but I expected the waiter to check in and let us know there was a slight delay, but that the food would be ready soon. He walked by many times without giving acknowledgement.

After 40 minutes, the pork terrine came out. I don’t know why it took so long, as the dish is cooked prior and served cold. It was my first time eating this dish and it wasn’t my favorite. One by one the plates came out. I felt that the timing was off on the plates as we ended up eating one item at a time instead of a mix of everything as one would usually do in a tapas-style restaurant.

The asparagus was ok. The pork belly had good flavor but it was cooked medium and I prefer my pork well done. I would have ordered it well done had I known. The server also forgot we had ordered potatoes and put the order in. After about 10 minutes, we were eating a bowl of potatoes. The potatoes would have been better suited accompanying the pork. To be fair, they were really good and probably the best thing we ate.

We didn’t really see our server all the much as another server, a nice lady, ended up taking care of us for the rest of the evening. We ordered a chocolate custard dessert and it...

One of the worst dining experiences ever! First of all, you are forbidden to arrive early in this restaurant. There is literally no one to greet you and you are forced to go up to find someone. Then because you cannot arrive and dine early and can only be ON time, the server would ask you to go up the bar to order a drink if you arrive early, even when there are empty tables. Second, you have to be very patient and not hungry when you dine there. A dish takes an average of 25 to 30 minutes to cook. An interesting thing is that when my food finally arrived, the server just chucked the plates at my table without explaining or describing anything. I observed that the server did not do this to any other table except mine, and I happened to be Asian and all customers and servers I saw were white. Is it racially discriminating? It surely makes me feel like it. Third, the food were not worth the price. With the price tag the restaurant imposes on food, you would expect at least decent food. But nope, salty sole fish on one side and tasteless on the other side. Side dishes for the venison was so salty I could not taste the venison properly . The ice-cream I had looked like the dessert cook could not be bothered to even put the ice-cream nicely. What's worse was that the dessert was warm. What's more, my seat was in front of the kitchen table and I was forced fo endure 75 minutes of oily kitchen air. Combined with the lack of circulation in the establishment, I was dizzy and almost vomited and fainted in the restaurant. All in all, this is an overracted restaurant with no good staff and food. What a waste of my hard-earned...

I had been looking forward to this dinner for a couple months and unfortunately came away a little disappointed. Part of that was on me - I had gotten sick and my taste was muddled so I really can't comment on how the food tasted. Everything was plated beautifully and I was devastated that I wasn't able to taste anything because I'm sure it would have been lovely. The portion sizes were all generous for sharing dishes and as a solo diner, three courses was more than enough. My main concerns involved some of the issues with service. Although the staff were all so kind, some of these issues just left me disappointed. First, I ordered three dishes and while the first two came out within a few minutes of each other, it took over 45 minutes for my main course to come out. The tables around me had all received multiple courses in the time that it took for me to receive my main. Then, when I got my main course (halibut with foraged pesto), I didn't get a new knife from the butter knife that I had used to butter my foccacia. Although these are relatively small gripes, when you pay 90$ for a meal, there is some expectation for the level of service that would accompany it. Ultimately, if I ever found myself back in Portree, I would probably return to Scorrybreac because the ambiance was really unmatched and the issues I had are hardly enough of a reason to not enjoy this beautiful restaurant.

While planning my vacation I had read about this restaurant and really wanted to try it out. I got lucky and was able to get a reservation for when I was visiting Portree. When I made the reservation they ask if there are any dietary restrictions. I noted that I do not eat red meat or fowl (birds) but that my husband would ok with anything. When we arrived, after we sat down the waitress confirmed these dietary restrictions. She then handed me a slightly different menu than the one for that night (it was the previous Friday's menu) - however, other than the "main" meal which was changed for a fish main vs a beef main there were no other changes. This meant I was served a lamb pate (red meat!) and a cod in chicken sauce (fowl!). So, if you are super strict with your diet, I am not sure this place is for you. They attempted but were not successful at providing a meal for dietary restrictions. If you, like me, occasionally dabble when traveling as it is part of the experience, then sure, this place is fine. The meal was fun - 7 or 8 courses. Each course was very different and delicious. Stand out moments for me include the roasted shallot butter on the bread course, the jerusalem artichoke soup (also on the bread course), the halibut, the celeriac ice cream with a goat cheese tuile for the pre-dessert, and the wine jelly petit fours.
