Ice & Slice at The Kiln — Restaurant in South Derbyshire

Real shame the food is good but lack of service, no management. Out of 21 dish's orders only 15 made it to the table. For my mums birthday . Another member of staff on a jolly (entertaining a table, plying them with drinks and god know what else) more like a night club than a restaurant/bar a real real shame to see this happen to a lovely place .... as business owner myself, I tried to help .. and feel sorry for the existing staff.. as no direction... and communication was given until things went wrong they Need to be one step ahead, and to understand less is more (not over booking the place). If it comes to the number of members of the public that come in. You got some staff that are awesome and should be mangering the restaurant, not the new owners that we saw tonight. It's real shame as we tried to help by either coming in early for our booking 30 min early for the booking as we were ask to help as there had a booking in for 30 for 40 birthday party when we had phone call from the uncle which was superb and explain and wanting to help yo get them more bookings. We didn't get the food on the table, especially when it was advised for us to come in early . When we booked 1 month before . When you have members of staff entertaining on the table next to you on their mobile phone and up and down going to toilet with other people that there are entertaining with and drinking alcohol and other substances . Then, party of 30 coming, I'm filling the venue and crowding existing diners and the member staff entertaining, bringing in more friends drinking and partying still. Especially when we have not either had a full meal. It's really shame as blame goes to entertaining going on next to us, and no understanding 😕 members of their team there said with managerment allowing more people to come up.. a real real real when I took this to management one of the managers told us to f off!!! Previously been several times and not really had many issues. However the last two times I have been in a larger group, we have left disappointed. Everyone has off days so we gave this place a second chance. With a big booking you would expect surplus stock to be available. However half way through we were advised some cocktails would not be available due to no stock being left. When asked about this the waitress was very polite and advised someone would be going to the shop so we could continue with the cocktails (she was a lovely waitress and has served us everytime we have been, cant fault her), however the manager who's management skills are somewhat to be desired, very rude, abrupt and stand-offish. When we had a table of 9 and 3 did not like any other cocktails we got told there are several other cocktails in a very rude manner, also advised they had nobody to go out and drink something else. The manager said they would not be getting stock to amend the menu so we can have what we paid for. With a nearly £400 bill we felt completely let down by this one persons service alone, there could have been other ways shes dealt with this than to talk down to us like a child. Dont provide and advertise a service if you are unable to cope with the demand in a service which you are offering. VERY VERY...

On arrival we were informed (I later understood to be the Manager) that drinks were table service and that a card machine would be used as and when we bought drinks which would have been ideal. This never happened. It took approx 40 mins before we got our first drink as nobody came to ask us if we wanted drinks. Very slow service and at times just ignored. Pizza was very nice dessert - cheesecake, I would not recommend. All three of us who ordered cheesecake left it. It was highlighted to the manager and to be fair, they removed it from the bill. We managed to have two drinks during the whole evening. When we tried to get the attention of any of the serving staff, they were standing over by their area chatting and drinking from their bottles. We had to ask for the bill twice the second time quite loudly as nobody seemed to take any notice. As a member of our party said, you could have had so much more business from us if you had given us a bit of attention, checked on us during the evening to make sure everything was ok and to see if we wanted any top ups.
