Came for lunch. Menu offered table ordering on an app. I needed to connect to the internet. The wifi might be free but comes with a clunky and cumbersome sign-up asking for your name address and date of birth. I mean who needs that? Just give free wifi that connects immediately. Then I went for the app but it is no longer available and looking at the reviews it's because it was not fit for purpose. So this was a poor start. I went to the bar and ordered the full monty mixed grill. Not available. So I chose the mini mixed grill with sweet potato fries instead of chips and a cup of tea. I was handed a cup with my teabag and water and some milk in a whisky tumbler. Which just spills the milk when your pour. Is a wee jug too hard? I asked for sweeteners. "We don't do sweeteners" The choice was brown or white sugar. I'm diabetic Marstons. We don't do sugar. Even the lowest quality greasy spoon has sweeteners in 2023. What kind of policy is that? 15 minute wait for the food so ok there. Gammon and egg was perfect. Sweet potatoes were nice. Sausages were quite salty and really tough and chewy at the ends, so they were old. Chicken was nice. Peas were stone cold and the fried tomato was rock solid and very cold in the middle. Can't imagine eating here again. Next time I shop at pipe works I'll try somewhere else. Sorry Tall Chimney but for 14 quid you can do better in my humble opinion

Quite disappointing. I took a group of 5 into the (relatively quiet for 5pm) Tall Chimney last night. Using the App, food & drinks were ordered at the table. The food order arrived quickly however, none of the 'sizzler' dishes sizzled. We had to exchange several pieces of dirty cutlery. Dried on tomato seeds were also found on one wooden sizzler board. A 9oz sirloin ordered was returned as dry & tough. What I personally found hard to accept was that desserts were delivered without the table having being cleared of the main course. Staff were asked twice to clear the table, the first time a waitress removed just 2 plates nearest to her, on the second time we were told by the waiter 'he couldn't do it', I can find nowhere in current Coronavirus regulations on the .gov website that says tables cannot be cleared whilst customers are still sat. Overall, food great, but let down by the awful service, on a quiet night running at half capacity I expected better.

After seeing the score, we thought we'd try the Tall Chimney for our afternoon meal before heading home. The staff were really friendly, but there were some disappointments. Looking at the drinks menu, there is a huge selection. However when you get to the bar, a lot of the drinks we requested weren't available. The roast was good, but the carrots were rock solid. The dessert was the worst part. We ordered the berry and apple crumble and the first photo is what arrived. However, and fair play to the server, they went back and fixed it to a much higher standard. However it was disappointing it came out like that at all. Perhaps we came on a bad day, but not sure if we'll be in a rush to visit again.

Quite possibly the worst customer service I've experienced & I've ate & drank in some bad places. I had booked to go to the cinema so my partner & little boy decided to go & grab a bite to eat at the tall chimney at approx 430pm. We entered the premises & stood at the sign that said please wait to serve for approx 5 mins. There was no management to greet us, so instead, we saw an empty table & sat down. My partner a GM for a major restaurant chain asked a member of staff is it ok to sit here but unfortunately the member of the team response was I'm off duty & I don't know So we decided to find a member of staff to ask. Prompt a member of your FOH team who when ask could we sit & order said I don't know there's a problem with the kitchen I'll have to ask a manager but I can't find one.. so we waited only to be told that we couldn't sit down as they were fully booked & the kitchen is closed.

Having myself been a GM for your biggest competitior I was shocked, the pub was approx 5% busy seemed the staff working where all chilling in an area at the front of the bar & the fact when ask who or where the manager was he said there's a handover atm.

Now whilst my partner was questioning why we couldn't eat I watch a couple of gents walk up to the bar & open a couple of Stella's to take back to their table... so your not taking any walk in or serving food but the bar is still open?? And I could clearly see other customers eating meals...

Personally Zoe, manager on duty you & your team need to sort out the attitude myself my partner received, if you are unable to take walk ins why not have your team trained to speak to the public & able to explain it & the worst thing ever if your team are popping off to have a break in full uniform how about you ensure that there is some form of management FOH to speak to your customers. Or a TL by the bar area to watch the door so if there was the issue you had they could come to the door & explain the situation.

This happened at 4:30pm ok we've all had busy Sunday loses but to turn away business your lost was prezzo £70 gain. And personally I would step foot in this premises ever again. Greene King you should be concerned that a FOH team representing your company had zero...

We went on Sunday at about 2pm. We opted for 2 roast beef dinners for £12.49 - so seemed good value. It wasn't very busy so we couldn't understand why we had to wait nearly half an hour for our meals. The portion size was good but unfortunately my husband's beef was mostly gristle and he was unable to cut it, never mind eat it. I waited for the waitress to check back to us to ask for the beef to be replaced, but no-one came, so I had to go to the bar. Give the staff their due, they did offer to change the whole meal, but as we'd waited ages for the neal to come in the first place, I asked whether they could just bring out some more beef. The lady behind the bar offered to bring a chicken breast as well "just in case" but she didn't come to our table to see how much beef was being replaced. She brought a small slice of beef and a small chicken breast within a short amount of time. The beef was a lot better but there wasn't much of it. The texture of the chicken breast was weird - quite rubbery - so my husband chose not to eat it. All in all, we were very disappointed and will be very...
