Experienced another enjoyable evening and meal at Prezzo Swadlincote. We've been here at least a half dozen times choosing to use our Tesco Clubcard vouchers which triple up to turn £10 of vouchers into £30 to use against a meal here... you can't go wrong... Without vouchers, expect to pay around £20 per head for a two course and £27 for a 3 course plus your drinks. I never struggle to find several meal options to choose from the menu and haven't been disappointed with my choices so far. The staff are friendly, attentive and seem intuitive enough to know when it's appropriate to engage in conversation or leave you in peace. The meatball starter is always a delicious choice but I went for crispy mozzarella with a spicy caprese ketchup this time. The presentation wasn't anything special but was still a very nice sized starter with the caprese ketchup giving it a little kick. The main courses were Oak Smoked Salmon Penne and Tre Carni Calzone, the Penne being the lighter of the two meals. The Calzone is very nicely presented with a dressed side salad and a sauce boat filled with a tomato sauce. As ever with a Calzone the ends have little or no filling (this is where the sauce boat comes in) and you slowly work to the centre where the main event lies. Full of flavour and very tasty I'd happily have this meal every time. I only got to try a fork full of the salmon dish but that might be my choice on the next visit 😋 With ample free parking outside, the restaurant itself looks clean, classy with several different seating style areas catering for family groups or intimate couples. It also has a gallery seating area where you can overlook the downstairs and bar area if you like a little bit of people watching with your conversation and meal. Very impressed, I can see why it was one of the restaurants that survived the Prezzo cull before and during lockdown and will be back for more in the...
Read moreWe dined during the ‘99p main’ offer on 28th April. Whilst this offer is an incredible one, it did unfortunately fall flat. We arrived for our booking at 7pm to a heaving restaurant with a queue out the door - this was great to see for a Monday, clearly the offer was a great marketing technique! But unfortunately we were informed there were no pizzas left….which meant we were only left with a choice of 3 pasta dishes. We found it quite shocking that they had ran out, considering they knew how many people they had booked in for the day and even told us they hadn’t accepted any walk in’s…we then asked if they were offering any alternative dishes to account for the lack of choice, to which they said no and asked why my friend ‘looked so confused’. In order to qualify for the deal, you have to buy a drink. We all ordered coke zero which arrived in a can but was somehow flat? We all ordered the bolognese which was rather average, but when you’re paying 99p for it you can’t complain, however I would be expecting the same quality as if I was paying full price. It did feel they altered the serving size of mince meat in the dish for this particular offer, as it was mostly pasta. (Picture attached) Let’s just say we would not have been happy if we were paying full price. My friend also ‘pre-ordered’ her sauce for her chips so she wouldn’t have to wait once her food got here. But we had to ask again for the sauce one the food arrived. Overall, the food was ok, but I feel alternatives should have been offered for the fact they ran out of pizza…at an Italian restaurant…where they had full visibility of...
Read moreValentines disaster. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation and was met with a queue outside. A lady came out and apologised that there’d been a fault with the booking system and they’d overbooked massively and weren’t any tables free and said we’d get free first drink. Waited about 30 mins to be seated which we weren’t too bothered about, did feel for the staff as clearly a fault in the system wasn’t their fault. However from here the service was absolutely appalling. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly but the starters took an hour to arrive and then about 20-30 mins for our plates to be cleared. From then it was about an hour and a half before the mains arrived just before 10pm, we had to ask 3 times where they were and just responded with sorry I’ll check. We also had obviously finished our drinks by this point and had to ask 4 times multiple people if we could have some tap water (it wasn’t even majorly busy at this point seeing as it was 10pm) before we got some. The food was genuinely really lovely I couldn’t fault it but it’s just such a shame the service ruined the night, especially when we saw multiple other couples come and go and receive their food before us we felt very forgotten. The manager did discount the bill about 60% when we complained so can’t fault this, and staff were very apologetic. Would still like to come back on a less busy day and give it another chance seeing as the food was nice (particularly the pancetta mac and cheese bites and the chicken, mushroom and...
