Melbourne Hall Tea Rooms — Restaurant in South Derbyshire

Visted today and ordered a sausage sandwich on white bread, sausage and bacon on white and 2 coffees, which came to £23 - very pricey. The coffees took about 10-15 minutes to come out, and the food took 45 minutes to get to our table and when it did the order was completely wrong - bacon on white & sausage and bacon on brown. After waiting patiently and then receiving the wrong order we asked the server who had the food "Can we please just cancel the order and get a refund" she said "Yeah" and walked back into the kitchen and didn't return. We went up to the desk and a separate lady came to see how she could help and we had to explain the issue to her separately - doesn't seem like the other girl had passed the message along to anyone and made no further appearance while the second lady helped us with a full refund of our order and apologised. Went here after a walk around the lake with my wife and 3 year old. Nice little tea room warm and clean. We had 2 sandwiches. Myself Cheese and tomato. My wife tuna cucumber. They came with salad and crisps, and coleslaw on white bread. The bread was a bit on the hard side, either a few days old or frozen then defrosted. My Wife had an hair in her sandwich. I did notice no hair nets or gloves bring used in the kitchen. Drinks, we had 2 milkshakes which were made with syrup and they were very very sweet. My 3 year old wouldn't drink it. Got her a bowl off chips which were nice and a victoria sponge which was OK too. Total bill was about £24.00 which was a bit on the expensive side for sandwiches, a bowl off chips and a slice off cake. Anyway don't think we will go back. This is a lovely spot but the business is not delivering a good experience. We arrived one day it was closed, nothing on the website to warn us. This happens very often. We went again later in the week and told to wait outside in the cold even though it wasn't full. Tables reserved with no one in sight. Menu never alters, same old choice which is limited. The afternoon teas are a bit limited but the cakes are good. Hot food service ends at 2.30! We've been going since it opened but because they keep closing and kept us in the cold we are sadly off to pastures new, Melbourne has other good places. It's...
