Bar 1620 — Restaurant in South Hams

In between lockdown 1.0 and 2.0 we managed a short stay in Dartmouth and found Bar 1620. Wasn’t very hopeful we’d be allowed in when we turned up bedraggled after a coastal walk with a wet Labrador but we were welcomed warmly, given a table by the fire, with snacks for us and doggy biscuits for Poppy. Beautiful decor, some stunning features, and a great drinks menu. I opted for rum based cocktails (yes, plural, be rude to leave after just one). Poppy opted for more doggy biscuits. We were fortunate to book a table for drinks during their launch/opening weekend and were so glad we did... For the uninitiated, Bar 1620 is a very cool new edition to the Dartmouth drinks scene, the imaginative cocktails and quirky decor are exquisite. Gorgeous cocktails...shame about the service. The lady behind the bar was totally offhand and looked through me to talk to her colleague. Didnt know how to make cocktail so followed step by step laminated instructions. (Fair enough). Colleague was much friendlier. But although they had to change a barrel, necessitating a 10 minute wait for my partner's drink (he'd already gone out to the table by the water) neither offered to bring the pint out.
