George & Dragon — Restaurant in South Hams

Had a meal here during a recent holiday which I would rate as average at best and some dishes were certainly not the quality they claimed to be but my biggest complaint is the poor quality of customer care shown by staff member when my parents returned a couple of days later to collect a favorite jumper my son had left behind. We knew it was there yet the woman they spoke to at the front of the pub just before opening, could not even be bothered to go and check, too busy smoking and gossiping with another staff member and just said it hadn't been found. She could have politely asked them to come back in a while when she had had a chance to look or let them in to have a quick look as when I returned the following day it was right in front of me hanging on a coat stand with what appeared to be many other items which may have been left behind by other customers and a different member of staff was able to locate it straight away and return it to me. I would not have bothered reviewing food if not for this disappointing incident and if any one else has lost something here it may be worth checking again with a more conscientious...

Bit of a shocker this one. Service ok. Went for dinner, very surprised at the positive reviews, definitely should have checked the photos of food prior.

Expect high prices in most places for Devon & Cornwall but for the quality of food, never felt so utterly & completely ripped off. It was first of all rather suspicious that the word gourmet was thrown around on the menu a little too much, especially when it came to triple cooked chips which were clearly factory made frozen Wetherspoons style. This seemed to be a running trend throughout, all appeared frozen/precooked & just incredibly bland. £18 for a burger with less flavour than McDonald's, cold processed ham with yellow stains & battered fish that resembled boxed Birds Eye. All based in a rather odd eclectic decor reminiscent of a Kitchen Nightmares episode, felt like a canteen.

at first we were thought great we are able to get a table as it was made out as if the restaurant was busy and they could squeeze us in, this was not the case. we had our main course which was okay and once finished we were practically ignored for 30 minutes, we were going to order dessert and more drinks but decided that we did not want to wait any longer, there was plenty of staff on hand unsure why it took so long in-between courses. All 4 staff members walked by us, one serving another table but failed to see our empty plates and glasses. Served the couple next to us with drinks, then took their food order (our plates were finished with at this point) then swiftly bringing their food, asked them if they wanted another drink but still didn'tbother with us. Didn't even ask if the meal was OK or if we wanted anything else when asked...
