I don't normally write reviews but in this case I make an exception - What a Great Pub with Excellence Service (Even in these trying COVID times) !!!
I had the opportunity to take lunch at the Floating Bridge as the sea kayaking nearby only had a few spaces left for my daughter and her friend and, obviously couldn't look after our dog.
I was quickly seated and served in these trying COVID times in a safe and superbly managed one way environment. Great tables outside and a roof terrace all with great views over the harbour.
I ordered the 10 oz Gammon & Eggs with chips and peas and a couple of Budweiser's to reduce the load on the managed bar. (Great active management through COVID)
Service was quick, efficient and, but more importantly, friendly with my request for brown sauce being brought with the standard salt and pepper etc.
The food was well presented and extremely well cooked and served on a hot plate. The chips were crisp, fluffy and golden brown, the peas bright green and fresh, both eggs had a light yolk, but without an underdone white, which broke over the Gammon perfectly and the Gammon itself was succulent and not at all dry.
When I moved indoors due to the wind and a drop in temperature I still received a warm welcome as well as did my dog in the Bar (Understandably - no Dogs in Restaurant - But plenty of tables outside or in the Bar (also outside plenty of waterbowls !!!)
All in all - I can't recommend this enough - Great staff, Great Service and Great Food...
Read moreLovely pub situated right next to the river Dart in Dartmouth. We were stopping over in the town overnight so decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. We checked out a few of the pubs in the town but this one seemed to have the best menu despite being what we thought was a little pricey. We both ordered the moules frites priced at £25 which is way more than I would normally pay for this dish however, given the location we figured we would give it a go. We ordered at 4pm and waited around 20 minutes for our food which gave us plenty of time to enjoy a couple of the local ciders. When our food arrived my wife's came out first as a gluten free option and a chap on another table asked if it was a sharing platter as it was an absolutely huge portion. Then mine came out and the chap couldn't believe his eyes and neither could we! As you can see in the pictures they didn't skimp on the portion size at all which was grand for me because I absolutely love mussels. The dish itself was perfectly cooked and there wasn't a single dead mussel or grain of grit inside to be found. It's also worth mentioning that the staff (who were lovely and friendly) brought out a couple of treats for my canine companion which always makes me add extra points to these reviews. The ciders we had were top notch too. We will definitely visit again next year when we are...
Read moreWe booked a Sunday lunch a week in advance and made it clear in the booking that we had three coeliacs, including children. What was truly disappointing was the lack of suitable gluten-free (GF) options, despite being told that âpretty much anythingâ on the menu could be adapted. In reality, many dishes contained gluten and the staff were unable to offer clear guidance on what could be safely modified. I would have to go through each menu item individually to assess possible adaptations, which isnât realistic or reassuring for anyone with dietary needs. When I went to the bar to order, I was told there was nothing specifically for childrenâdespite the booking noting children would be present and being coeliacs too. The only suggestion offered was a makeshift meal of ham, egg, and fried potatoes. This lack of planning and flexibility made the experience feel poorly thought-out and unwelcoming. A very disappointing experience, especially given weâd booked in advance and communicated our...
