The restaurant is attractive, although small and cramped. When we first arrived, we were turned away, because we didn't have a booking. My daughter went online and found that they had lots of spaces an hour later, so she booked a table. The servers didn't seem to be very interested in the customers. I needed gluten free and asked if they had a menu. They replied that 'most things could be gluten-free, but were not specific. I decided to go for an 'Atlantic Prawn/Marie Rose sauce sandwich, with fries, salad, and house slaw. It was all delicious. There was an abundance of food! (It was difficult to eat the salad on the narrow plate.) My son and one daughter decided to go for the Afternoon Tea option at £22 a head. It was very impressive, with plenty of savoury offerings. (The server had promised to come back and explain all of the parts of the meal, but he didn't.) Nobody came to the table to check on us, and when my son paid he was not asked how the meal was. So, food - Great! Delicious and abundant. Venue - clean and attractive, with good toilets Service - sporadic. Would we go back! Yes, because of the quality of the food, but we would be unsure about...
Read moreTook a family member for 60th birthday brunch celebrations. Our first visit to Bread and Butter, Penwortham; and it did not disappoint. A good selection of both breakfast and lunch meals. I chose avocado on sour bread with chilli and eggs. I added salmon as an extra. I highly recommend this dish! Very tasty and freshly prepared as were all of our meals. Other dishes were mushrooms and melted cheese on bagel, with hash browns, accompanied with pots of red and brown sauce. The 3rd meal was Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce. Absolutely no complaints from any of us. The place itself is modern and spotlessly clean. The waitress was friendly and welcoming too. Easily located, although as each of us are unfamiliar with the area, car parking was unclear. We parked on Tesco car park opposite the restaurant, were there is 3 hour free parking available. See photos for each meal. For anyone who like me has not been to this place....it is well worth a visit! I will definitely be returning....a...
Read moreWell. Where can I start? We went for the Sunday lunch. From the outside it looks clean and sharp but...cosy. Inside, it's not the biggest place but the intimate setting and being able to see into the kitchen really adds to the atmosphere and gives the impression that they know what they're doing, they're proud of what they're serving and they want you to see the magic happen. And my oh my. I was expecting a nice roast. I was not expecting faultless food. I mean really, totally, exceptionally, faultless. Hands down the best roast I've ever had (don't tell my mother in law). I had a lamb roast, it was hot when served; the perfect quantities; the mash was buttery; the gravy was rich; the LAMB, it just melted. Not to forget the service, attentive but not overbearing. All for £16? These guys are playing the game at a level for above what they're charging and all I can really say is bravo and see you...
