THIS SHOP /CAFE was our No 1 place to go too before the lock down (COVID) It has now reopened to sell seafood snacks out side and in(20% more because of VAT) I had a crab sandwich very nice and full of crab but bread was like door steps which took away the taste of the crab. My wife had a very large and full of prawn baguette also very nice and a cup of fish & potato chowder soup fantastic she told me. The two girls took a long time to serve our coffee too many customers and only two staff very bad.

THE BAD THING TO ME was we sat outside because it was sunny but the amount of dog.. beside them barking and licking their parts while your are eating is no no for me I'm not against dogs but if the owner put them on under the seats next to them while they were eating and drinking. I don't think they would allow their dog to lick themselves in front of them but what they can't see is OK......BUT WHAT ABOUT US.... THERE should be an area for owners and dogs can go too if they want to lick their parts while others try to enjoy the scenery and a nice sandwich and coffee. £27.80 spent to see a dog barking and licking, is not on. There some very selfish dog owners I wonder if there would get upset if I put my granddaughter on the table and changed her pooy nappy while they were eating......? THIS seafood shop/ cafe is not cheap it's a treat for some, and it was NEVER like this before lockdown..it's always busy and not many seats inside the place... no dogs free

PLEASE, Please put a special area outside for dogs and. owner's.......and give us our special...

We have travelled to Latimers for years for the amazing prawn sandwiches Been more than happy to pay the price as worth every penny. Advised others of the quality which they also travel regularly to access the sandwiches and fish deli. We plan our holiday as the treat walk along the beach with dogs stop and relax over coffee and sandwiche. So imagine my surprise when I ordered two prawn sandwiches and coffee. The coffee took 30 minutes the girl was constantly completing the coffee orders that alone was not the main issue. The sandwiches were not the quality we expect. When I went to give feedback I was advise by staff the bread was different and not good different dry, thick and tasteless . Was informed they had charged the bread at customets request and customers had given good feedback. However, I wasted the majority of my bread. Have to question was it fresh as this was a bankholiday monday or the new standard . Sadly I may never find out as I honestly could not pay the price for a sandwich we did not enjoy.Gutted. granddaughter bought sausage sandwich again not good quality sausage she threw it away after one bite.

The owner replied and can appreciate the changes to staffing. I hope this was a one off and...

What a find! Fish and Chips with a difference - no batter!! Their speciality is "naked fish and chips" - the fish is cooked in foil rather than batter and served with gluten-free chips (no batter = no cross-contamination), salad and homemade coleslaw - absolutely delicious! There is a wide selection of fish to choose from, caught daily. Cod is relatively expensive compared to haddock etc. to promote sustainable fishing - rightly so in my opinion. You can sit inside or outside with a good view of Roker Beach, and there are customer toilets (unmarked, to deter beachgoers from using them!). A word of warning - there is a car park, but it is only for customer use WHILST THE CUSTOMER IS ON THE PREMISES - again, to deter beachgoers from parking there. If you are planning to go on the beach or promenade afterwards you are better-off parking in the public car park which is just behind the cafe. Next to the cafe is a well-stocked fishmonger with a very impressive range of delicacies. Highly...

Fantastic fish counter. Overpriced cafe. The fish counter; It has all manner of sea food, and it is so fresh, they're shilling the oysters behind the counter. They also have a range of sauces/kits and accessories to help you make the most of the items you buy. We bought some tiger prawns, a tub of crayfish tails and some potted shrimp. They were very nice, according to my seafood-loving wife. The cafe; £10+ for six prawns, half a dozen oven chips and a lettuce leaf. My wife enjoyed it, so that's all that matters. The Sailor's Breakfast was nice - a sausage pattie, rasher of bacon, black pudding, haggis beans and toast/baguette. More worthy of the asking price in my opinion. Would we go back? Certainly. We've been several times, and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Took my 11 year old here as he loves seafood, we got a takeaway box each a can of San Pelligrino and a bottle of Diet Coke, £36. It’s pricey but seafood isn’t cheap, it’s what you’d expect to pay. In the box we had a few lingoustines, dressed crab meat, mackerel, prawns, sourdough bread, a mayo sachet, a few slices of lemon and a wipe for later. It was incredibly filling for what is there. We went to the takeout window at the side of the building to make our order and the woman serving was a great help, explaining what we might like, what other products we could have and just general advice about seafood. The packaging was cardboard and inside was a wooden knife and fork, so a thoughtful company too. If you like seafood then it’s definitely worth a visit.

We live nearly 30 miles away but don’t need much of an excuse for a visit to The Hatch, stock up on fantastic seafood and enjoy a long walk along a fantastic piece of coastline. Grand Fruits De Mer has started our Christmas celebrations off for the last 3 years, and it’s now a family tradition which will not be broken. If you like seafood then Latimer’s is the place for you, an absolutely amazing array of seafood and shellfish to try and it never disappoints. Well done Latimer’s you’re doing a great job and have got it just right (although I’d love to see the cafe reopen so I can come in and enjoy my kipper sandwich and cuppa in doors instead of in my car). ❤️ 🐟 🦀 🦐 🦞 🍽
