Worst experience I have ever experienced at a restaurant! Last night myself and my girlfriend went to Ed’s diner and this was our experience...
1 - We both stood at the entrance waiting for at least 10 mins before we were even acknowledged by any member of staff, in an empty restaurant (finally greeted with an absence of any pizazz or happiness, both waiting staff looked like they were asleep)
2 - we were sat surrounded by other tables all crammed into one corner of the otherwise empty restaurant, no where near closing! Having worked in a restaurant this instantly flies red flags as it shows lazy servers
3 - our menus were tossed on our table and the waiter just walked away... nothing. We then had to wait 10 mins to be acknowledged again, although again the service lacked any personality! The staff refused to have any eye contact with the table, staring aimlessly round the room! Both of us ordered a simple lemonade each, which was then served to us about 20 mins later!
4 - our food order was taken all in all 35 mins after being seated 😂 ridiculous! I ordered an over expensive burger that didn’t even include any sides I had to pay £3 extra for chips! And they were rubbish!
5 - the food! Oh my goodness by far the worst! Never again! Dry burger, lonely on a plate with no garnish, just disappointing for £9odd! And my girlfriends hotdog came straight out of a freezer it was cold hadn't even seen the grill, made us both feel rather ill! I’ve had better food from a weatherspoons for around £4! And their burgers come with chips!
6 - one of the servers almost smashing glasses when clearing tables was ruining what little atmosphere there was, this is the same server that would towards the end be pushing the high chairs around the shop causing the most awful ‘nails on a chalkboard sound’ which from reading some other reviews seems to be a regular occurrence!
In hindsight I wish I had read the reviews before or whilst standing at the door for the ten mins!
Avoid at all costs! Worse than anything I have ever...
Read moreWaited 30 minutes to be seated, were told at the door that they’re out of chicken wings - that’s fine, we’re vegetarian. Finally get inside and order a £2.99 mac and cheese kids’ meal for my son, only to be told that whoops, they’re also out of mac and cheese. If someone had mentioned this to us, we would not have wasted half an hour waiting.
Scrutinised the menu for something else we could order for him instead and ended up paying £5.49 for a full-sized serving of plant-based chicken tenders. Would’ve been an additional £3.00 for fries, so that was out. He did not get a kids’ drink either because they told us they were unable to substitute any veggie items into the kids’ meal.
I then ordered nachos as an appetiser only to be told, whoops - they’re also out of nachos! Again, this was never mentioned to us while we were waiting for 30 minutes outside the restaurant.
But we soldier on, and end up sitting and waiting over 10 minutes for them to bring us our drinks (a diet Coke and a tap water - nothing fancy). Tables around us, who had been seated after us, all had drinks - we had nothing. Flagged down a passing server - nothing. Eventually had to go up to the counter and remind them that we still had no drinks. Servers were quite rude and unhelpful.
The wait for the food was ages and the food itself was not impressive - not worth the wait or the aggravation. They forgot my side of fries when the food finally arrived! Will definitely not be...
Read moreStopped here for some grub on a date. Had seen this place before but never actually went there until recently. It's an American style diner if it wasn't obvious enough. Visually Ed's Diner is brilliant and fits right in with the whole 80s American Diner aesthetic. Great music choices too.
The prices are reasonable and their menu has some interesting options. Whether it be a full breakfast or dirty burgers and dirty fries. My date ordered Ed's Big Breakfast, upon arrival the toast was more than slightly burnt but she didn't mind it.
I ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger which was nice but felt the burger had too many tomatoes as it made parts of the burger a soggy mess. In terms of taste it was quite nice. I also ordered cheese and bacon dirty fries which were nice although the fries themselves felt a bit on the cheap side, that being said it was still enjoyable.
Ed's Diner is a good place. Staff are friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. Would I recommend it? Yeah, it's worth a shot especially if you haven't been there before. However I'm usually very particular when it comes to my American style burger joints and there's one which I'll always prefer above all else (which I won't mention as this is a review for Ed's Diner.)
Overall, friendly staff, short wait times, great aesthetic, good menu options, give...
