Stopped off here after a trip to Alton Towers....and we discovered a Real gem of a proper traditional pub. Excellent food, cooked by a first class Chef.....Best steak I've had in a long time ...Steak was well done has requested.. succulent and tasty. Never tried Black pudding with Steak before but it will now be a regular request... Everything was cooked to perfection. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ The home made Steak and Ale pie was very well cooked, lovely, meaty, juicy Steak and Ale filling..pastry was light and melted in your mouth.... The home made black pepper gravy was thick and tasty...the home made onions rings were excepional. The side dish of Scampi was also exceptional, no grease, lightly battered and the scampi inside was well cooked and hot. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ The deserts were traditional deserts, apple crumble with custard and Lemon roulade but both were exceptionally very tasty. Hospitality, Customer Service and atmosphere was second to none. Lovely surroundings with a warm log fire. Really enjoyable meal and experience. Highly recommended. Thank you.๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

Having grown up in the area it has been many years since visiting the butchers Arms. I have to say I was really pleased and pleasantly surprised following my visit. There has been a lot of work to bring the pub up to a high standard. The pub is owned by joules brewery now and a wide range of quality real ales are sold. Food is also sold although I did not eat there. Clean and tidy environment with friendly staff.

Myself and my partner visited The Butchers Arms last weekend. We had spotted the pub on our way back from Alton Towers. We both had The Baconator burger meal. It was hands down the nicest burger I had ever had. The chunky chips were amazing. The service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be going back again to try another one of the burgers on the menu ๐Ÿ˜‹

Lovely little waitress which seemed to be running around and following order's from bar staff, felt sorry for her as she only had a pair of hands and was being told to do god knows how many things all at the same time, the starters came 1hr after we ordered, considering it was a meal for 2 we found this to long for a starter, this only came once we asked how much longer it was going to be. The main meal was ok however the Peppercorn Sauce had not seen a single Peppercorn!! When we asked what sauce it was we were told Peppercorn sauce, when we complained stating it was not the woman from behind the bar seemed to be taken aback at our comment. Next table to us was a party of 10, lovely party, they arrived at 7.30 and went up.to order food at 7.50, again they were told by 2 bar staff ladies that they could.not take the other due to.the kitchen closing at 8pm.yet on your website it does stipulate 8.30. 10people got up and left the place. If this was my business they would have been accommodated not refused to be served. The whole experience unfortunately has put us off for a return visit which is a shame. Word of advice, get your staff on a customer service course, it may just save you...

First impressions ok but the the faults stacked up.. waited a while for food to tell us they had not got what my partner orders and when a second choice finally arrived mine wasnโ€™t what I asked for so partner ate on her own while I waited again .. too cold to order another pint and ..Other customers asked if the fire could be lit which a young member of staff replied itโ€™s not my problem Iโ€™m only a child.. a second member of staff was asked about lighting the fire and she also replied no.. I wish I had a hot water bottle has my experience at this pub was spoilt by no heating.. my partner put her hand around a tea light which was lit at the tableโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜’my star rating of 4 for atmosphere is because of our over hearing other costumers about chopping up the furniture for firewood.. we sped home to be by our fire and wished we had not stopped at butchers arms today .. the butchers arms are not alone at skimping on heating to maximise profits ..will...
