I went for bottomless brunch here yesterday with friends and there were some definite highs and lows. On the positive side, the pizzas were absolutely delicious, the music was great, and one of the servers (a young guy) was lovely, friendly, helpful, and clearly enjoyed what he was doing, which really made a difference. Unfortunately, the drinks really let the experience down. The cocktails were extremely weak, almost tasteless, and when we politely asked if a little more Aperol could be added to the spritzes we were told “we put less alcohol in the cocktails for bottomless brunch”. I’ve been to plenty of brunches and have never been told that, nor had drinks watered down to the point it was obvious. It was a sunny day so after we’d eaten we asked if we could move to an outside table. We were told no because it wasn’t table service outside, fair enough, but when we said we’d happily get our own drinks from the bar, they then agreed. It would have been better if that option had been offered from the start. After giving up on the cocktails we switched to Prosecco, which sadly was served warm. When we mentioned it, we were told “we don’t put it in the fridge because we go through it so quickly”, not really the answer you want when you’re paying for bottomless drinks. When it came to paying, we asked about the playlist because we’d enjoyed it so much. The manager, without even turning to us, replied “it’s just a playlist”, though thankfully the lovely server told us the actual name. We also mentioned again about the weak drinks, to which the manager said “I’ve been to over 10 brunches and they all weaken drinks”. This isn’t true in my experience, and even if it were, it’s not the sort of response that makes customers feel listened to. Overall, it felt like the venue doesn’t really want to offer bottomless brunch, so perhaps it’s something they shouldn’t advertise if they aren’t willing to deliver it to a decent standard. A real shame, as with the great pizza, good music, and that one fantastic server, it could have been a much...
Read moreMy partner and I, both seasoned hospitality industry professionals, usually take online reviews with a grain of salt, understanding the potential for exaggeration. However, our recent visit to Alfredo's left us so astounded that we feel compelled to share our thoughts and warn management/the owners about what we can only describe as the worst dining experience we've ever had.
Our evening began on a sour note with the inattentive, inexperienced, and seemingly overwhelmed staff. We were directed to a table that was not only dirty and unset, with an old napkin and missing cutlery, and surrounded by spilled water from a nearby dog bowl. The lack of attention to basic cleanliness set the tone for the rest of our visit.
We were not provided with menus and had to resort to asking the neighbouring table if we could borrow theirs. This oversight foreshadowed the service issues that would plague the entirety of our meal.
Despite ordering drinks and two pizzas, the drinks never made it to our table, despite bringing the matter to the staff's attention on three separate occasions. The pizzas, although deemed "okay," failed to salvage the experience due to the overall poor service we had encountered. It was clear that this wasn’t an experience unique to us, as a table of 4 adjacent to us walked out after experience the same car crash customer service.
Our visit to Alfredo's was an unfortunate combination of unprofessionalism, customer neglect and a clear lack of management. The overall experience and atmosphere was chaotic and uncomfortable and we were relieved to pay and leave shortly after eating.
To echo the other reviews, this venue is a welcome addition to Stockport, that has a demand for good quality casual dining, but there needs to be some serious training with, and evaluation of, the Front of House team and their processes.
We sincerely hope that our feedback serves as a cautionary tale for management to look beyond these issues as ‘teething problems’ and to intervene before it hinders the...
Read moreAlfredos Stockport. We came here as a group-four adults and two kids (aged 4 and 6). Our order was taken quickly-6 soft drinks, 3 pizzas, 2 portions of potatoes and a portion of meatballs. We were asked whether we preferred starters first then mains or everything served together. We opted for the latter as we were sharing everything as a group. The drinks arrived after about 10 minutes. After a while, the potatoes and meatballs arrived. We then expected the pizzas to come shortly after, however it was then over an hour for them to make an appearance.
Whilst sitting at our table, we found ourselves watching pizzas being delivered and trying to work out when it would be our turn based on who was in before us. We even discussed whether it was worth leaving as the children were understandably growing a little impatient by this point. This should never happen anywhere and really put a dampener on our experience. Our table was booked for 17.15 and our pizza arrived at 18.50-the time we would usually be getting our children ready for bed.
It's a real shame as the building is lovely, and so is the food. We would probably have ordered desserts but simply didn't have time and we were not prepared to wait potentially another hour for them to come out.
When paying for the bill, the waiter did apologise and offer a discount without me even needing to say anything, so it was nice that the long wait was acknowledged and I did really appreciate that. He mentioned that our time slot was busy, and I'm assuming the main issue was not enough staff on shift to deal with the number of customers. Unfortunately, until the service speeds up, and the staffing issues are sorted, we will not...
