Went here last night (Saturday)- called ahead to see if they had Vegetarian and Halal options and they said they did. Came in at around 9:30pm- no free parking available close by but managed to get parking on the street for free. We were seated promptly in the back and there were about three other tables with guests and quite a few empty tables. Our first waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the pan fried tofu, kimchi pancake and Duboki- three starters to have as my mains. My partner wanted the BBQ chicken but they apparently have a “minimum two meat policy for the BBQ” (not indicated anywhere on the menu) which is a problem because only one of us eats meat and only the chicken was halal so instantly it was no longer an option. He then asked if he could substitute the beef for chicken in the beef, egg, veg and rice dish but our waitress said this wasn’t possible- we could make it vegetarian but not swap the meats. He then went with a traditional chicken and rice soup dish and asked for some chilli sauce on the side to accompany it. We were served with our dishes by waitstaff who were considerably less friendly and we were left to it. No one came to check on us to see how everything was or how we were doing. Remember- there’s now only 3 tables with customers at this point and about 3 staff members floating about. The kimchi pancake smelled fishy and they forgot the side order of chilli sauce- so I had to get up and speak to the staff to ask for it. They didn’t offer to bring it to our table, and instead poured some out and handed it to me. We were done shortly after and again, no one came to check on us so my partner got up to pay the bill and ask for takeaway boxes. They brought them to our table for us to package ourselves- we were the last customers in the restaurant by this point. The only reason we haven’t given a one star rating is the fact that the chef came out and insisted he help us pack our takeaway food, and was actually quite friendly and engaging. It’s a shame we only met him at...
Read moreWe went as it was my son's birthday and he wanted to go to a Korean BBQ. We'd been to another Korean BBQ in London and really enjoyed it so we thought we'd give this a go. They were really accommodating when we rang and said they're fit us in. When we got there, we were seated almost immediately and it drinks order was taken. However it took AGES to take our food order! We must have waited about 20 minutes, after asked to give our order about 4 times.
I found it really strange that only the elder lady, who I can only assume was the other, was allowed to take the food orders.
We did eventually get out order taken, we went for the BBQ. The food was good but the portions were abysmal! You get stuck a small amount for the price it's unbelievable. Each portion of meat cost in the region of £17 but when it came out, there was barely anything there.
To top it off, we ordered some salad to go with the BBQ, we weren't expecting much but we're very disappointed all the same. The salad cost £4.50 per person, for that you get a grand total of 5 x lettuce (hothouse lettuce) leaves and a tiny bowl pickled veg.
We spent a total of £130 for a meal for 4 of us and came out feeling like I could go to the Macdonald's to fill myself up.... NOT GOOD!
It's a shame as the food tasted good but it was so expensive for what you get that the value for money rating was in the minus figures. We paid less that that for our meal in the centre of London and we came out feeling full.
I won't be going there again, but that's not to say anyone else shouldn't. Just expect to pay through your nose for it, and probably have to go somewhere after to to...
Read moreThe food is gorgeous here, as already reported by others. When we asked for menu guidance, we were encouraged to order far more than we actually thought we needed. So we compromised. 4 of us had 3 meats for the spectacle of the BBq. Plus lettuce sides.. An interesting dish, lovely large lettuce leaves and a bowl of more lettuce with a sauce to top up! The lady showed us to put lettuce in the lettuce, then some Kimchi (a side dish we ordered) then some meat dipped in sauce then a little rice and make a little lettuce burrito! We also had vermicelli, which was lovely. We ordered our soft drinks on arrival, including a Korean grape juice. This had skinned grapes floating in it, which tasted delicious but the texture as one slipped into my mouth took a little getting used to. Give it a go. Once we finished eating we were left with our BBq burning for some time until a man from the kitchen (chef??) came to remove it. Now all staff disappeared. We sat chatting with empty glasses and no sign of deserts or more drinks. I was disappointed with the service. Almost felt like a bit of a nuisance for being there. So we reflected that in a 5% tip. Id go again for the food. There's a lot more I'd like to try but I would not expect great service and would be more vocal asking for drinks etc. Unless it was a bad night??? It was quite popular but not overly full. Several Korean guests were eating there.. Always...
