This is the first time I have visited this establishment since the refurbishment and today was the first time they have served Sunday roast. All I can say is thank god I was very hungry, I had the beef dinner and found the beef over cooked, the broccoli and cauliflower were also over cooked to the point that it was tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding was clearly the frozen variety, however, the gravy & mushy peas were lovely. I offered feedback only to be challenged by the gentleman clearing the table who informed me that he had been a chef for 27 years and he felt the food was fantastic, I understand that the customer is not always right as I have worked in customer services for over 30 years but the customer should be listened to at least. The gentleman then took it upon himself to bring over an empty plate from another table to show me that the gentleman in question had had the same, it was at this point that I felt extremely annoyed there really was no need to do this. I WAS going to give The Royal Oak another chance but after this I will most definitely NOT. Learn to accept feedback because that’s all it was. However on a positive note the refurbishment is tastefully done & the bar staff warm & friendly, great choice of beers but not as extensive as The James Watts. Still a lot to be done before winning over...

The atmosphere was ok, although we decided to swiftly move to another (more relaxed) pub in the village as it was very loud with the music and we couldn’t even have a conversation due to the loud music, reminded me of a night club or old school social club.
A good place to go if you want a bit of a disco without going to town and don’t mind being pushed to the bottom of the pile when waiting to be served , but wouldn’t recommend if you want a quiet drink and conversation on a...
Read moreMe & my wife called in for something to eat and was pleasantly surprised on a Sunday teatime 5:30 that they had some great ‘Live” Music with a Southern Irish feel to with a great singer. We both had a Panini one with Chicken & one with Beef. They came with chips. (Great portions) The price is very reasonable including a Pie & a pint for £8. Staff were friendly and helpful and a great asset to the place. I spoke to Dave the Manager and he says they have live music on a Saturday & Sunday. We will mostly definitely be back & would recommend if in the area you pay the Royal Oak...
