VIP Wine Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Stockport

Bad customer service, everyone can make there own mind up. But this is my experience.

So I booked on the 9th March to go to VIP yesterday 26/3/19 at 6:00pm. Through Groupon and got a confirmation email, I even rang VIP a few days ago to increase my table from 4 to 5. (I should have trusted my instincts then as the phone experience was dreadful) Arrived yesterday to be told not expecting us, showed me not in the diary for Tuesday but Wednesday, not a problem no one else in the diary and the restaurant was empty. But they had no steaks and it was a steak groupon deal, ok again no problem we’ll look at the menu. To be told again No it’s only pie night only doing pies!!! We’ll book you another night (not in a apologetic way either) that was no good to us as it was a birthday celebration so we want to be out tonight. Can I have my money back (as paid in advance) No wouldn’t do that!! At no point were we shown any amount of good customer service. We were obviously not welcome that night. A Tuesday night, the restaurant was empty, you’d think they’d be glad of the customers who are coming in to eat, no other food in the kitchen except pies??

So we went somewhere else to pay again for a meal I thought was already paid for!!!

This is the third and last time I will go in and should have trusted my previous judgements. The feeling I get is unless your a regular or taxi driver you feel...

I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately the experience I had here means I will not be returning. I waited almost an hour to be brought a menu, while the staff chatted behind the bar and had to ask for one in the end even tho I had said I would be eating when I ordered my drink. I was told after ordering from the main menu that only the set menu was available that night. When I told them that I would leave it as nothing on the set menu took my fancy, it changed again and they said I could order anything! When our steaks arrived we were not asked how we'd ordered them and when I asked which was well done and which was medium rare was told they were both the same. This is not the experience I wanted or expected from reading the effusive reviews on here and I was very sadly disappointed. If you are looking for good food and service at a reasonable price in the Romiley Bredbury area take my advice and go...

I held my 70th birthday party/disco/buffet here on Feb. 22nd 2020 and have to say we were extremely impressed, not only with the new décor, since we remembered it as "The Barnhouse", but also with the entire presentation of venue and efficient staff. The choice of both hot and cold food which we had arranged beforehand was also extremely good and exceeded our expectations. We had some lovely comments from our guests regarding the high standard of food. Well done to you all....it was absolutely brilliant and I had a night to remember always !....I highly...
