Jolly Fryer — Restaurant in Filton

This place is an absolute gem of a find! I only recently moved to Filton from over Clifton way and was moaning to my boyfriend that I'd have to travel all the way to Clifton to get any decent fish and chips (after trying a different local and being very very disappointed). I initially didn't know about this place because it isn't on Just Eat - and that only adds to the calibre of this establishment. Speaking to the server last night, this is because they did not want to compromise on quality and customer engagement, and it was the right decision. The fish was cooked to perfection and incredibly fresh (take it from an ex fishmonger here), the batter was lovely and light, the oil was clearly fresh, the chips the perfect combination of soggy and crispy, and to top it off the packaging was excellent with no plastic in sight! Out of the 3 different fish and chips that I've tried in Bristol this one scores first place. Bristol Fryer in 2nd place, and Reel Soul in 3rd place. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because in the past year they made a mistake with my order on 2 separate occasions. Both occasions I ordered 2 sets of fish and chips and got only one. I did go back to get the one they had left out, before driving away. Absolutely amazing. Honestly the best kebab I've ever had. Everything I've had from here has been brilliant but their kebabs are really something else. Barely any grease, well seasoned and lightly spiced. The meat itself is out of this world but to combine it with the best chips I've ever had is a ridiculously good decision.
