New Happy Palace — Restaurant in Filton

I did wonder about this Chinese takeaway, the reviews are split between 1 star and 5 stars, who is right!? Well I think this is definitely closer to 5 stars, as Chinese takeaways go the food was delicious and well cooked, the Cantonese Duck I had was really good quality and the Chow Young rice others had suggested was a big portion full of various meaty bits. You can see from my photo I ordered a load of food (some of it was saved for the next day!) My only negative was that the prawn toast didn’t come with sweet & sour sauce, I didn’t realise this needed to be purchased separately... I get that costs have gone up so it’s fine if they want to charge extra for it, but please make it clearer on the menu! Eg: Prawn toast £7 Prawn toast with pot of sauce £9 Having said that it was a good size portion of prawn toast and as good as any I’ve had, if not better! (Sauce in the photo is just a blue dragon one from my fridge, it’s lucky I had some!) Overall though a good experience, I’ll be back to try more...

Me and the family have been going here for years and it is rare that we have a wrong item in our order or have bad food but whenever they get it wrong it's your fault no matter what, they don't want to fix it to keep you as a happy loyal customer just rather you need to speak more clearly when making your order for next time or that the food wasn't as bad as you tell them it was which is ridiculous, only three orders in six months was bad and or they gave us a wrong item and it doesn't even matter how much you spend even if it forty or even fifty pounds at a time, you are still the one in the wrong and not them so literally save your breath and time when trying to make a complaint as they don't even care, after the service we had tonight we will be looking elsewhere...

Well worth driving over from Horfield. My wife and I had two chicken chow mein and a box of ribs and we were stuffed! Brilliant quality - the chicken was really nice and the noodles were bang on. I really like the classic mix of noodles and bean sprouts and the flavour was just like it should be. Proper foil packaging too - none of that plastic rubbish.

The ribs were brilliant too and came with vegetables which had a great flavour. They threw in some prawn crackers and we were both stuffed. Portion sizes like they’re supposed to be.

I won’t be getting Chinese take-away from anywhere...
