Today we visited Bod Trentham for father's day breakfast after hearing loats of good things about it. We were the 3rd table in who had ordered food so did not think we would be in for much of a wait. 45 minutes later we asked where the food order was to be told it was on its way!. 5 minutes later it arrived and to say it was disappointing was an understatement 😕. Apart from most of the food being cold, the poched egg on toast came out with a fair bit of water on the plate for the toast to soak up and part of one of the orders did not come out until we asked for it and because it was rushed the toasted tea cake must have been shown the toaster from 20 yards away. We had waited so long we ate what we could and decided to offer some feedback when asked if all was OK with our food. We were not asked if everything was OK with the food until it was time to go and when we explained the disappointment to the waitress she apologised and went off to get the manager. Never reappeared so we just left. It was such a shame that a place with good feed back got so many of the basics so wrong, slow service, no updates on orders, cold food, missing food, under cooked food and no manager available to take responsibility and feedback on board. Needless to say we won't be returning in a hurry if at all and likewise would not recommend...
Read moreIf you're popping in for just a drink then this little place is lovely. However, for food the service is extremely slow and poor, from taking the order, to cooking. Waiting 45minutes for breakfast toast and eggs is just too long especially when it's almost empty, and when it did come to the table it was cold. The waitress asked if we required condiments, however she failed to come back to us with what we asked for. I give benefit of the doubt as all businesses can have a bad day but this has been a reoccurring issue on all visits. Last time it was lunch, my friend and I both ordering nachos. When the waitress eventually brought out our food after again a long wait she gave one plate to us and the other to a second table before realising her mistake expecting my friend and I to eat separately. Its such a shame as it really is a nice bar but the service and food really do...
Read moreAn identity crisis. Is it a pub? café? restaurant? bar? It’s a café, as I was told when I queried a 1 hour 30 minute wait for food today. We’re not a restaurant, it’s a small kitchen. We can’t cope with al of the orders. The sever didn’t seem that bothered and verged of being rude when he told me this, when I said it’s not even busy today. So why then is there a full menu available? It’s BOD’s 5th Birthday. How can they not have cracked a 1h30 wait for breakfasts in that time frame? Odd. Lots of people came and left. We only had a coffee. Perhaps they can afford to see money walk out the door? If you have a lot of time to waste waiting for relatively simple food, then please go here. If not, plenty of places to go to. A shame, as we’ve been here a few times. We won’t be back to meet up as a group of friends. A very odd...
