It makes me sad that we are in the 21st century, yet I'm writing this review. I came here tonight with my family for my nephews 8th birthday. Food was very average but other than that we were having a good night until towards the end we noticed a disagreement occurring by the bar, between a man and the staff. We were unsure what the disagreement was about but we heard the man say he was going to wait until the police turned up. One of the members of staff approached our table and informed us that they were refusing the man and his wife entry because they had been in before and not paid previously. We thought this was fair enough until we overheard another member of staff say to the man 'no you specifically have never been in and not paid'. It turns out the man and woman were travellers. The police arrived and the man explained that he was being discriminated against because he was a traveller. Whilst the police were talking to the man and a few members of staff another member of staff approached our table again. She explained that they were not going to serve them because they hadn't paid before (as the other member of staff had done). My partner asked if she meant that couple specifically and she said yes. To which my partner questioned why the male member of staff had said he'd never done it before. Her response to this was 'well travellers are all the same anyway aren't they'. Clear discrimination. What she didn't know (and what made her ignorant comment so redundant) was that my partner is actually a traveller. In complete shock, he responded, 'I've sat in here all night, paid, acted respectfully - am I the same?'. She laughed in his face and said 'well you're not a traveller are you'. Very humiliating and unjust that my partner has had to go through this tonight. Needless to say the police did absolutely nothing, even after my partner explained and then several of my family members explained what had happened, as witnesses. It truly saddens me that we live in a society where this discriminative behaviour is deemed acceptable. I for one will definitely not be eating in this...
Read moreI honestly rarely leave bad reviews, but this time I really have to. Where do I start we wanted a family meal out me my partner and my 15 year old son, we found this place on line (I did) Upon arrival we had to wait for a car parking space 🙄 When entering the building it seemed busy outdated, finally got seen to and order some knock of coke I mean it tasted like flat cola tip tops. Yuck and very expensive coke at that. Anyway after pay £56 for the 3 of us we sat at out table. The table was a hazard paper's cloths that touch the floor everythime someone got up you had to hold your drink and plate 😳 So here we get to the food I was the first one to go up ad I'd saved myself all day after working a long shift, I love Chinese food and really there wasn't much on offer, so I grab some starters and go back to my table. The food was absolutely tough very greasy and cold I couldn't even cut the chicken. Eventually my partner and son and returned back with there food my son had rice sausages and chips even he couldn't eat his and he's a child they eat anything, although he did enjoy the spring rolls. My partners face looked at me with disappointment like where did I even find this place he asked 🙄 (GOOGLE) we travelled 50 minutes to get there. Anyway back to the food I went for my mains really like I said before not much option everything was bland of chewy like jaw ache chewy. Pudding they had ice cream that's melts as soon as you get to your table so my child couldn't even eat pudding. Option of 2 frozen pudding cakes and some jelly. We were there 45 mins I said to my partner I didn't feel comfortable here so we left. 10 minutes into our journey home I'm throwing up in a paper bag literally sick everywhere eventually we had to stop of on the side of the road and I stood outside on the side of a main road for 20 mins throwing up. That was an experience I'll never forgot not for the right reasons either. I would definitely avoid this place and the prices for what you get...
Read moreFirst time coming. Turned up at 8pm, it was not meant to close until 9.30pm since arriving. I haven't seen a single person refresh the food. I started with the starter selection to find a very substandard amount of food available the "battered crab sticks" were nothing but deep fried fish sticks that you could probably make at home and buy the fish sticks from a local supermarket, only one lonely prawn toast. The best part of the starters is the aromatic pork.
Then on to the mains. Yet again, not a lot left, and still nothing brought out. The spicy rice was hard and tasted like it had been left for at least 30 minutes to go too hard , and I had to leave the small portion that I had plated up. The noodles were hard and lumpy. But the food wasn't all bad. The sweet and sour chicken was a good 6/10, the same as the mushroom and garlic shame that there wasn't anything to place it on.
On to the desserts, the Swiss roll cake dry but the cake slices were nice and moist, the jelly next strawberry jelly very nice you would probably fill up on that but the orange jelly was very very crystally to the point that you can taste the granules or the mix still dissolving in your mouth if that's your thing the I would eat that rather that the Swiss roll. Ice cream here is definitely the best and that would be because it's out of a machine unfortunately the is no syrups to place over the top, only some fruit. I'm still in the restaurant at 9 pm, not due to close till 9.30 pm. All of the food have been removed and cleaned down. This is...
