In the past, Iâve ordered McDonalds via Just Eat. To begin with, great. It arrived on time, was still reasonably warm, and I got everything Iâd ordered. However, since lockdown, the standards have slipped dramatically. The last thing I ordered that way arrived late, was stone cold, there were items missing, and McDonalds and JustEat refused to refund for the missing items. So Iâve not ordered from them since.
Similarly, the drive thru at Longton, Meir Park and Stafford all leave a lot to be desired. When you turn up are told âhang on a minute duckâ and are left waiting for so long you get bored and drive off! Or are ignored and they serve the person who just arrived in the other lane ahead of you. All I wanted on those occasions was a coffee! I went to Costa instead, where the service was excellent.
Then last night, they tempted me with the return of the Chicken Fajita wrap. One of the few things in the menu with actual nutritional value. I ordered the meal, with medium fries and water. A simple order you may thinkâŚâŚ. Apparently not! It would have been quicker to drive to Uttoxeter, knock on my Line Managerâs door, purchase an egg laid by his chickens, hatch it, raise it, slaughter, prepare and cook it, and drive back to Stoke.
There were 3 people in the queue, including me, and all of us with simple ordersâŚ.. all had the same ridiculously long wait. While the toddler aged staff all clustered in the kitchen for a natter! Ignoring the fact that theyâre actually there to work!
The two ladies in front of me, both had orders which had multiple parts, yet they had to ask for a bag. Something the staff may have pre-empted if they had half a brain cell to their name could have worked out. The orders included multiple drinks, which, unless you have about 4 pairs of hands, youâre not going to manage as they are. You guessed it, the child serving behind the counter couldnât quite figure out how to consider the needs of the Customers, and they had to ask for those too, but not before the staff had wandered off again clearly believing their job there was done!
Another few minutes after the Second Lady finally got her order, mine arrived. With yet another toddler handing it over with a âsorry for the wait duck!â At least they had the grace to realise that their service was appalling I suppose!
Fortunately for them, all the items I had ordered were there, and it was still warm, but itâs still half an hour of my life Iâll never get back, while they clustered together for what I can only assume was a group hug. There was no work going on.
McDonaldâs is no longer a fast food restaurant. Itâs increasingly becoming...
Read moreUnless you like waiting 20+ minutes for a drink and up to 30 minutes for food then Iâd stay away. The drive thru is always backed up esp around 9pm. Certain workers are not very professional within this McDonaldâs store. And everytime Iâve been in this store it feels like most of the tasks are left to the cleaners as you rarely see the other workers. She was cleaning, taking food out, taking food to people in the store, answering the customers questions at the front who was getting agitated. Checking where orders was, I really salute her. I must also say that on one occasion I was shocked at how the manager (think she was management) thought it was ok to speak to a customer. He had ordered a cheeseburger and after waiting 20 mins he came over and asked where it was. He didnât have his receipt he didnât take it off the cashier but he kept showing her, well tried to show her who had served him. She was telling him without a receipt heâs not getting nothing. Eventually after 3 minutes of him explaining which guy served him, she then proceeded to go to the back and said she was making it. Another couple of minutes passed and he is asking again how long (in no way was he aggressive, he was a young boy about 18 with his hood up and tracksuit) she then comes back snapping at him âwell Iâve just had a 60ÂŁ order come through so now you can wait for your cheeseburger as Iâm doing this orderâ ge had literally been waiting 25 minutes a order comes in and she decides he can wait because that order is more important. he asks for a refund and she is still telling him âno sheâs got a 60ÂŁ order to do and he can waitâ and at that point I had to tell her she was being rude to him and there was no need for how she was speaking to him. She then got confrontational with me saying âhow am I being rudeâ waving her hands all about. Then huffs over to the cash machine and takes the coins and presses them down in his hand. I totally get it I work in retail it can test you and some customers can be so rude in how they talk to you. But this boy literally did nothing wrong he wasnât rude to her, he wasnât aggressive, he just wanted his cheeseburger. I wonât say her name because as I say she could have been having a bad day who am I to know and I wouldnât want to get someone in trouble if they are already having a hard time, but she will know who she is and I hope she can work on the talking to customers with disrespect. I do hope she takes accountability in the fact she was rude to him, but who knows. Apart from that though the food has always come out hot and correct so I cannot complain about the...
