Huffkins Stratford — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

We live locally but this was our first visit. We’ve frequently said that we must give it a try, so today we did. We had great expectations but I can best describe the whole experience as totally underwhelming. The place itself seems rather cramped, we were sat in a drafts narrow corridor near the door, it also looks slightly untidy and certainly doesn’t have the Cotswold tea room vibe it seems to portray in its advertising. The lardy cake I ordered was ok but it had, judging by its texture, obviously been warmed up in a microwave, however I will say, it did taste quite nice. My husband ordered the cream tea and when it arrived the scone, which had also been in the microwave was actually steaming, the clotted cream was so cold it was nearly solid and practically destroyed the scone when he tried to spread it. The scone itself was one of those floury kind you tend to find in supermarkets and not the homemade kind you’d expect for the high prices they charge. I think this place relies on tourist trade and isn’t really bothered if people don’t return, ourselves are among them. There are far nicer cafes in Stratford to be honest - seek them out and...

First day on visiting,would give it five stars... Second day.Very Poor. Three tables of two people, First after we ordered, we were bought water, so started to drink, it was for two ladies on right. Then we was bought are order out again, !! we had already been given ours !! Too are left, the other couple. there order, was bought out totally wrong,. did get apologies, then lady had her meal bought out, it was not cooked so she had to sent it back ,so she had no meal. Plus more !! and at that moment not busy... I went to pay, only to be told, my card had declined, It went on ten mins, was told I needed a signiture, etc ,etc. though embarrassing with people behind, i took no notice,because i knew it was ok. Explained then as getting a little miffed,said about all the mishaps ,we had having coffee etc, no apology. Then I had to struggle, to go to my bank,. about my card, lady told me ,nothing wrong with my card, whatsoever ever !!! ..., Being disabled, I was completely warn out by then, what should have been a nice coffee etc. chat and catch up..was exhausting...Apologies for...

Really well trained, friendly staff.. really nice light food. I had The Classic Rarebit.. it was a different take than I had at previous cafés. This was really very nice. Good quality bread with a superb house tomato chutney to flavour as you choose. Cake options (for me) could be better. More home made to add the extra… Lardy cake, not very lardy like from back home.. but it’s nice warmed up if you add some ice-cream. Maybe some better pricing for combination of both… I had the Flat white coffee. The mug was nice (a shape and size I’ve not had before) to drink from and the coffee easy. (I had it twice!!). It’s not cheap snack food, but the quality is good and the service fantastic… I didn’t realise I could order from the table, would of been a little easier, but still nice to interact with the staff. Especially when sitting upstairs (which I liked). Lots of room. Very well styled and not adorned with noisy music. Be thanks to the staff and well done for the management. I would visit again, in...
